Day 50 of Dev50 (Tue 19th Nov)
Reflections: Well, this is it for me on this challenge. It has been a good exercise. A good chance to reflect on how I am using my time, if I am fully taking advantage of my days etc. It has helped me focus more, strengthen good habits and eliminate or dilute bad ones. Ready to keep pushing forward. 1️⃣a Good Sleep Last Night: ✅ Very good. Reading a book before bed always helps me to sleep better. Daily exercise is also so important. Preferably first thing in the morn. 1️⃣b Productive Morning: ✅ Got up early and went for a recovery walk. Was going to have a light jog but still feeling a bit too sore from the race at the weekend. Came back to find the cat had chewed through the internet cable, so hotspotting from my phone atm. I will sort out a new cable later today. 2️⃣ Organise to-dos… and do them: ✅ 3️⃣ 30 Minutes of Learning: ✅ Reading various docs and going a bit deeper on Cursor AI 4️⃣ Time to Code: ✅ Today is more of a job application, networking, and study day, but I did fix a few bugs 5️⃣ Daily Reset: ✅ 6️⃣ Support the Community: ✅ Useful Link: Why Front-End Developers Should Be Entrepeneurs https://blog.openreplay.com/six-tips--why-front-end-developers-should-be-entrepreneurs/ 7️⃣ Daily 49 link: https://www.skool.com/universityofcode/day-49-of-dev50-mon-18th-nov?p=e4e748e3

Brilliant stuff 🙌🏻
Tuesday, 19 November - Day 4 of 75
🚀 Short Summary of the Day A tough start to the day, as I dealt with dizziness and nausea, but by dinner time, I managed to get back on track. Focused on planning projects for my digital portfolio, scheduled to go live tomorrow, and made plans to catch up with an old friend over coffee. Took a step back from Spanish lessons for now, but I’m sticking with my daily math practice to keep the momentum going. 📋 Detailed Progress and Achievements Health Challenges: • Spent most of the day in bed due to dizziness and nausea. • Thankfully, things improved in the evening, allowing me to get some work done. Portfolio Planning: • Finalised the list of projects to showcase on my digital portfolio site, which I’ll be uploading tomorrow. • Aiming for a clean and professional design that effectively highlights my skills and accomplishments. Meeting with a Friend: • Made plans to catch up with an old friend over coffee tomorrow, which will be a nice break before diving back into work. ☕ Language Learning and Skill Adjustments: • Decided to pause Spanish lessons temporarily, giving myself a few weeks to focus on other priorities. • Continuing with daily math lessons to maintain a productive routine. 📚 Coaching Call Resources: • Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to organize the resources today as planned, but they’ll be sorted and shared tomorrow instead. 💭 Final Thoughts Despite a rough day health-wise, I’m glad I managed to make progress on planning and organizing for my portfolio. Looking forward to getting it live and catching up with a friend tomorrow, which should be a refreshing change of pace. Sometimes, it’s all about adjusting plans and keeping things manageable while pushing forward. 🌟

Monday, 18 November - Day 3 of 75
🚀 Short Summary of the Day Despite battling IBS pain and spending most of the day in bed, I managed to make progress on several fronts, including a video call with a recruiter, applying for a job, and enhancing my personal platform with real-time database functionality using Appwrite. Plus, I reflected on how this amazing community has boosted my confidence to tackle new challenges! 👨🏻‍💻💪 📋 Detailed Progress and Achievements Recruiter Call and Job Application: • Had a video call with a recruiter and applied for a job today. • It’s been a long time since I pursued a “proper job,” having focused on solo projects for years. While I’m keeping my expectations realistic, just taking this step feels like a victory. • Working solo has its challenges, especially in terms of maintaining productivity and quality, but the confidence I’ve gained from this community has been a game-changer. Thanks to everyone here for inspiring me to take this leap! 🌟👏 Personal Platform Updates: • Began integrating real-time database functionality into my personal platform using Appwrite and WebSockets. • Decided to use Appwrite as my primary database, with plans to integrate other databases on demand via my custom “database adapter.” • This new functionality will allow for more dynamic interactions within the platform and improve its scalability for future features. Portfolio Site Deployment: • Finalized plans to deploy my new portfolio site tomorrow. This will serve as a hub for recruiters, employers, and clients to view my work. Hoping it helps open doors for new opportunities! 🌐🎨 Coaching Call Resources: • Started organizing and preparing resources from my recent coaching call. These will be added to tomorrow’s post, so stay tuned for those if you’re interested in learning more about the techniques we covered! 📚 💭 Final Thoughts Today wasn’t easy, but I’m proud of what I managed to accomplish despite the challenges. Taking steps toward a new job and improving my platform feels like progress, even on a tough day. I’m incredibly grateful for this community and the encouragement it provides—none of this would have been possible without it. Here’s to better health and more wins tomorrow! 🌟

Sunday, 17 November - Day 2 of 75
🚀 Short Summary of the Day Despite feeling unwell, I managed to finalize the EmoFest video and automate part of the video processing workflow using FFmpeg. Took the day mostly to rest and recharge, while planning out the week ahead, including a revamped tutorial for my YouTube channel and platform feature updates. 🎥💻 📋 Detailed Progress and Achievements EmoFest Video Completion: • Focused on wrapping up the finishing touches for the EmoFest video, which is around 14 minutes long. • Used Shotcut Video Editor for editing and employed a custom FFmpeg script to automate video conversion and re-encoding after exporting. • The script simplifies processing by feeding in parameters for FFmpeg to handle efficiently, ensuring high-quality output while saving time. If anyone’s interested, here’s a link to the video on YouTube! 🎶🎬 >> EmoFest - The Liquid Room - Edinburgh << https://youtu.be/Gy829UzSLmY Health and Rest: • Spent much of the day in bed due to IBS-related issues but took it as an opportunity to relax, considering it’s Sunday. Rest was definitely needed to prepare for a productive week ahead. YouTube Tutorial Rework: • Still need to redo my first tutorial video for YouTube. I wasn’t happy with the initial version—it lacked the depth and clarity I aim for. • Planning to dive deeper into the material while keeping it beginner-friendly, making it a more valuable resource for viewers. 🎥🌟 Platform Updates Ahead: • After finalizing the video and tutorial, I’ll focus on adding more features to my platform this week, including integrating NextAuth and automation workflows. These updates will help make my day-to-day management much more streamlined. 💭 Final Thoughts Today was a slower-paced day, but it felt productive in its own way. Finalizing the EmoFest video is a small win, and I’m looking forward to diving into the week ahead with more energy and focus. I hope everyone had a great weekend and is ready to tackle the week ahead with fresh motivation!

This post is to give you intrinsic motivation so read with open mind Hey Papafam 👋, We’ve all been there — following along with tutorials and thinking we’re really learning. But let’s be honest, it’s easy to fall into passive learning. Sure, you get some knowledge, but are you really mastering it? You only have the knowledge of what possible and the forest view of it, therefore forming weak mental representation of that skills Some people might say, “Just read the docs, and you’ll get it.” But that’s not always the best advice, especially when you’re just starting. Docs often skip over key details, assuming you already know certain things. This leaves gaps that could result in messy projects that aren’t quite production-ready. And most times docs are written for references that why most doc still have post that teaches you orderly Remember words of @Sonny Sangha in the episode 6 podcast with Luke here is the time stamp [47:01] - You need mentor who has done what you want to do and this will save you from error. This will help u grow faster So, how do we learn effectively? The Best Approach to Learning For me, the most productive way to learn is: 1️⃣ Stick to one detailed course and build an app from the ground up.Just like the Zero to full stack hero or 37-hour crash course: - You’ll learn the best practices. - You’ll gain a holistic understanding. - You’ll have the confidence to build solid apps in the future. 2️⃣ Practice actively as you go along. Don’t just watch videos like it’s Netflix, or Movie — actively engage with the content. This is the most effective method for becoming an independent Next.js developer. Another word of @Sonny Sangha during the Disney 2.0 Nextjs 14 code when a guy ask him how do you become so good he said build it yourself and teach someone_[1:55:57] Keep these two tips in mind, and they’ll help you make huge strides in your dev career! I am not ignorant that we succeed in the first part of his advice by building project but we failed to teach
