Fake Accounts
Hey Skool Team, I wanted to share some thoughts on how we can make the platform even better when it comes to managing spam, bots, and fake accounts. These issues can really mess with the vibe of a community, and I think there are a few ways to tackle them without making things too complicated. First, it would be great to separate suspected bots and spammers from genuine churned members. Right now, when fake accounts end up in the churned list, they mess with the metrics that reflect actual community activity. If there were a dedicated category for these accounts, it’d be easier to track and review them without impacting churn rates. Next, chat access could be limited to members who’ve put in some real effort, like reaching Level 6 or 7 and staying active for at least 30 days. Right now, lower levels like 2 or 3 are pretty easy to hit, and spammers can use that to their advantage. Making the requirements tougher would mean only genuinely engaged members can join the conversation. I also think smarter detection tools could make a big difference. AI could be used to flag patterns, like rapid-fire commenting . Combined with something as simple as a CAPTCHA during account creation, it’d be a strong first line of defense against fake accounts. Another idea is to reward quality engagement. Instead of letting comments alone drive leveling up, actions like completing courses or contributing meaningful posts could count more. This way, genuine participation is encouraged, and bots don’t have an easy path to level up. Lastly, it’d be helpful if communities could share blocklists of known spammers. If one community flags a bad actor, that info could help others proactively avoid the same issues. These tweaks could make Skool an even safer, more engaging space for all of us. Let me know what you think!

@Bryce Jackson Hey! :D I run 5 Airbnb rentals with my wife and sister-in-law, manage Sundaze Coffee, and oversee some property renovations. I’m also all about teaching financial literacy here on Skool and building IRL community up. What about you?

@Bryce Jackson Appreciate it, bro! :D
Why “Banned” members count as churned?
Because I have a Free and Public group on Skool, almost a quarter (25%) of the accounts under "Churned" are spam users that I needed to "Ban" from my group. Why do these accounts count as churned? Should they not just be eliminated/deleted? Why do I see these accounts under both "Churned" and "Banned"? These are not real accounts (bots/spam/etc.) to begin with. Churned implies they left, banned implies that I kicked them out. Does anyone know why? Thank you :)

@Alexi Drouin no way? I was hoping to avoid churning rate getting high, I have banned about 10 in this week alone

@Alexi Drouin i am doing it manually, some a re pretty convincing but once they started posting about their sales, (same post , just different accounts ) I ban them and in my community I ban at least 3 people weekly minimum. and it is not looking good on my churn rate
Unlock Chat At Level 2 Or 3 | Skool Feature Update
There is a Skool Feature Update! 🎉 You can now Unlock Chat at Level 2 or 3 to help reduce spam and keep your community safe from unwanted DMs. (Like spam or cold pitches) Here’s how to enable it: - Go to Settings > Plugins in your community. - Toggle on Unlocked Chat and select Level 2 or 3. Level 3 requires 20 points, ensuring members build a genuine connection before accessing DMs. I'll be using this to create a better community experience for everyone. What about you? Thank you, @Sam Ovens & Skool Team for hearing us on this! 🙌

I really hope they change that feature to level 5 , that way spams will be reduced significantly. spammers have to work twice as hard. level 2 is just easy to obtain
How to add links to your community about page
Adding links to your about page feels like it's more confusing than it should be. For anyone wondering how you do it, go to group settings -> links and edit from there.

@Coach Mahgul Nikolo good! :D
Hallways
People don't hang out in classrooms.. they hang out in hallways. In a school, hallways are the pathways to classrooms. Hallways funnel people into classrooms where they eventually commit to learning. Hallways create connection, evoke emotions, and are where people express their personalities. Live chatter. Fun conversations. Our school, our community. Picking communities from a list is boring and requires effort. Picking communities while you walk the hallways sounds fun and would require less effort. If you see people in the hallways, you'll eventually learn more about them. Maybe after awhile you'll feel comfortable enough to send them a message. If I see a post or message that resonates with me while walking the hallways, I can more easily join communities I wouldn't have otherwise looked for. Hallways = Have fun, get comfortable with Skool and eventually join a community No hallways = manually discover communities. How are people expected to know what they want to learn? This is most peoples first time!
