If an inhaler doesn’t work it could also be VCD
First time marathoner!
Hello! My name is Danielle and I’m training for the NYC marathon in November. It will be my first marathon and I’m so excited! I am also 6 months post partum, so have been slowly building up my base. My goal is to finish :) fun fact- I qualified for nyc through 9+1 (9 nyc races and 1 volunteering event) .. last one was when I was 7 months pregnant!

@Danielle Hoffman - for me, the most stressful part was getting to the start line. I was staying in Central Park and my friend was staying in Battery Park. I stayed at her Air b&b the night b4 ( which was so helpful as it was a 5 min walk to the Ferry). That said, know how and what time you need to leave to get to the Ferry. The subway / bus whatever option you choose is craziness. The whole Ferry / Bus to start was chaos, not even organized chaos. We were on our feet for a coupe hours b4 the start( waiting at the ferry, on the ferry and waiting for the bus). Once you get to the start village, find your place and chilll/ sit down and try and relax.
Calf and Foot Pain
Hello. I just started back running and live in a hilly area. I am getting calf and foot achiness when running. Any suggestions? It’s not overuse as I just started back running.

Hi Stacey, I’m not a coach, but I had calf ( and some foot)aches/pains a couple years ago when I spent my summer at our place in the mountain and was training for NYC Marathon. The pain got so bad I didn’t think I would run NYC. However, I successfully responded to shock wave therapy. Anyway, in my case, although I was running in the mountains, I wasn’t doing anything to stretch/strengthen my calves. By incorporating stretching/strength training specifically for my calves, has been the difference.
Returning to Marathons after 27 year absence!
Hi, I'm stephanie and running the NYC Marathon with my daughter in November. It will be her first marathon and my 6th marathon but I haven't fun a marathon in 27 years! We are currently running close to same pace (9 min mile for training) and about 20 miles a week right now. We are excited to get help with our training!

Congrats Stephanie! I ran NYC in 2022 what an amazing experience. Very different than any other marathon I’ve ran. Enjoy every moment!
