Parents you can help even when you think you can’t
My son is preparing for his A-level tests so I asked him if I could help in any way. I’m fine, he said, so I let it be and then gently suggested again the next day if there was any way I could help him revise. I got lucky the third time. 😻 He’s asked me to take his Zombie rule book, make up questions, and test him daily. The Zombie rule book is a special kind of book and we have been using this since the boys 11 plus days. It is a book filled with tips, important stuff, stuff he got wrong etc etc. It’s a great idea for revision time. ( If you would like more details, let me know… some people on my email list have asked me what it is.) So I took the book and made up questions from the notes he had and tested him. It was Chemistry and although I’ve studied it for my engineering degree, it has been over 25 years and I’ve lost track of the subject matter. But I tried my best and twisted the sentences to ask him questions. Sometimes they didn’t make sense so he filled the gaps and explained to me how I could ask questions and what some of the tips meant. I asked him related questions showcasing my ignorance, and he explained more. What this does is reinforce learning and because they are teaching you, the concept gets even clearer to them. Try doing that with your kids, they love teaching you and you will love seeing them get confident as they go through the steps. Win Win 🏆
