๐ŸŒ™ Midnight Musings on Letting Go...
Oof! I've been meaning to hop on here for awhile and then the day gets away from me. Especially so close to the Holidays, having a business rebrand in process, and a vacation in there somewhere. I'm sure you can all relate. ๐Ÿ˜‰
I had something happen last week though that I've been meaning to share. It offers a great opportunity to introduce you to.... Zen Master Woo! ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™‚๏ธโœจ He'll be our resident wisdom-keeper who finds profound lessons in everyday moments. Think Mr. Miyagi meets your quirky best friend. I hope you like him. ๐Ÿซถ
So here goes:
I don't even remember what night it was at this point, but I was sleeping, deep in dreamland, when my hunny moved in a way that startled me awake. At this point, the cat that often sleeps next to me (the one that always has feedback and a Yelp rating to deliver) decided the movement meant it's definitely breakfast time and started her (often annoying) behaviors to encourage that outcome. ๐Ÿˆ
This started the whole process of trying to fall back to sleep.... trying to ignore her persistent requests... and trying desperately to recapture my lost dream. I found myself in an unexpected tug-of-war with letting go. I really wanted to escape back into that dream, yet the more I tried, the more it slipped away.
It hit me then - here's this perfect little lesson about letting go, wrapped up in a middle-of-the-night moment. Sometimes the simplest things become our greatest teachers! The more I chased that dream, desperately trying to remember and return to it, the more frustrated I became. Yet the moment I accepted letting it go, I found a much more valuable lesson about attachment and release.
As ZMW would say: "Ah, young grasshopper, sometimes the best wisdom comes when we stop chasing it. The dream that floats away often leaves a better lesson in its place."๐Ÿ˜‰โœจ
What unexpected lessons have you discovered lately?
Quick note: I'll be dropping an introduction to Zen Master Woo in the Questions category soon. You can wait or jump right in to ask him questions - he loves to impart wisdom. ๐Ÿ˜‰
