Pressure to Power... but pressure is relative.
Movement is Mandatory, sure, but...
Not enough pressure and there's no movement.
Too much... and they break.
Our kids are the ultimate test of our ability to lead brothers and sisters of our tribe because THEY ALL HAVE TO MAKE IT.
All of my kids are as different as tribal members can be, and each has a unique response to unique forms of pressure.
There will always be functional pressure that keeps an individual able to sustain himself on the path he's chosen...
... But there's also growth pressure; the pressure that will drive an individual to maximize his current capabilities.
The nuance required to not only keep them safe but to drive them up their ladders of self-power is a skill that all leaders must train in order to build.
Being an effective leader is more listening and pivoting than demanding and commanding.
It will always be easier to create a standard that all must follow, lest they be shamed or worse.
The question then is...
Are you requiring them to be a functional minimum for their sake, or is your standard just a reflection of your current maximum ability to lead?
If you're looking to invest in becoming a more effective leader to those who rely on your strength and guidance, you should be here. From the Lab,
