Wall Sit Fitness Challenge: Family & Classroom Edition
A wall sit is a great test of lower body strength and endurance that’s easy to turn into a fun competition! Whether you’re with your family or in a classroom setting, challenge everyone to see who can hold a wall sit the longest!
The Challenge:
• Find a flat wall where everyone can comfortably lean.
• Assume a sitting position with your back against the wall, knees bent at 90 degrees, and feet flat on the floor.
• Hold the position as long as you can.
3 Fun Ways to Compete:
1. Everyone Together:
• The whole group (family or class) does the wall sit at the same time.
• As each person gives up, they cheer the others on until there’s one winner still holding strong!
2. Timed Challenge:
• Each person does the wall sit individually while others watch.
• Keep a timer so everyone knows each person’s time. Who will take the top spot?
3. Mystery Time:
• No one knows their time while doing the wall sit.
• After everyone’s done, reveal the times all at once for a fun surprise comparison!
Strategy Tips:
• Distraction: Talk, listen to music, or tell jokes to take your mind off the burn.
• Focus on Breathing: Keep steady, deep breaths to last longer.
• Push Your Limits: When you feel like giving up, challenge yourself to hold for just 10 more seconds.
Teachers: Have Your Class Compete!
• Make it a fun classroom challenge by having your students compete against each other.
• Offer rewards or prizes for the top finishers or simply make it a fun way to promote teamwork and healthy competition.
Whether with family or students, this is a great way to get everyone moving, having fun, and improving their fitness together!
