[MARKETING] Short reads to build your email list?
One big mistake we made (I write with a partner) with our first book was publishing with zero marketing.
No email list.
No social following.
“Publish and they will come” mentality.
Now we write in public, bring the audience on a journey, and launch with friends and fans to jumpstart.
“Short reads as brand/reader magnets”
We’re publishing the first 3 books in a new series soon.
Right now, I’m putting together a “short read” to gather early readers, and build up a niche-specific email list.
The story in the short read is about something that happens before the first book in the series.
I’m planning to promote the short with a targeted “micro-budget” FB ad pointing to a book funnel page.
Have you used short reads to build your email list?
Beyond this strategy, what else has worked for you when you’re a new author or new to a niche and you don’t already have an email list or reader following?
