Good Morning all,
Thank you so much @Alex Chisnall
and @James Burtt for setting up this community, being invited to join feels perfectly timed and I am extremely grateful and excited for any advice, guidance and support received.
On top of working a full time and high pressured day job, I am attempting to grow my side business “G4U Health & Wellness”, in the main to to help and inspire individuals that experience PTSD, burnout, anxiety and other associated health and wellness challenges.
In particular but by no means exclusively I hope to reach those in the emergency services, military, high performance jobs and athletes. These areas all have certain characteristics that are very similar and often lead to burnout due to the amount of intense pressure, unused adrenaline, untreated trauma and sustained periods of high stress levels with no balance This was me.
My intention is to spread awareness around mental health stigma and show ways to improve your wellbeing, balance and happiness both through my holistic coaching and more importantly from the first hand experiences and positive changes I have discovered and implemented.
I am aware that building my business organically without compromising on my values will take time, patience and consistency. As such I recently decided to drop the ego, pushing outside of my comfort zone by posting and sharing my true emotions and showing others the benefits of my daily practices including sea swimming, stress management techniques and simple tasks such as getting outside as soon as you can after waking for a short morning walk.
This escalated quickly from voicing my intention to host some form of podcast to inviting local football manager and clothing brand owner Chris Todd over to Brixham for a chat to running away with an idea I had to capture our conversation whilst out walking in nature and make it into a video, no script, no rehearsal, no planning and no retakes.
I have also attached the highlight reel I created for social media.
To say I was nervous is an understatement and to say I don’t feel incredibly exposed and open to criticism would be a massive lie. However the personal growth I have experienced over the last 18 months through mindset growth, sea swimming and pushing myself constantly out of my comfort zone has allowed me to overcome those feelings and recognise that they are limiting beliefs that if I let them will stop me from making the correct moves and expressing my true emotions.
I know that I need to invest in better equipment and love the idea of sticking with the outdoor and walking theme at different locations and brining in guests that can share their stories to inspire others to make positive changes and reach out when they need help. I also have the option of utilising my garden room.
My passion and purpose to spread awareness is the driving force behind everything I am doing. My mission is simple, if I can help one person to feel comfortable to put their hand up when they need help without feeling shame or embarrassment then I have achieved my aim.
