How Yall Feel Bout Punchin In?
Back when rappers used to record on analog tape or studios with the Digital DAT systems, an MC's skill level seemed to be predicated upon his/her ability to get through the full verse in one take. After Pro Tools became the norm, seems like rappers started to dedicate less time to trying to memorize their verse in it's entirety. 😂 Listening to a Lil Wayne Sqad Up mixtape in the 2005 used to blow my mind when I thought that Weezy would just go in from start to finish. After I saw his actual recording method required a series of Punches throughout the track, I began to worship his engineers for their ability to make it all sound clean and consistent. Nowadays even all of the veterans from yesteryear punch their asses off... I've noticed many punch in throughout an Eminem album. Hov still memories his verse before he lays it down yet other rappers lack that type of integrity. Does it bother you when people claim to be the best when they can't get through their material in one take?
