November 2024 Social Circle Game Report II: 6,000 Followers & Police Blockades

I reached 6,000 followers on Instagram, thanks to Instagram Reels being posted every Monday and Firday.

Not wildly important, but APEC was being hosted in Lima this week. I managed to sneak through the police blockades and be in the 'secured' area. They closed off entire city blocks and streets, and so I found myself behind police lines of hundreds of riot shields, casually eating ice cream from Burger King as I look around for Xi Jinping and Joe Biden.

There was a situation at a hotel resort I was staying in at the start of the week. So I negotiated with the staff to see what I can get. The first guy passed me to a second guy. The second guy passed me to the final boss. I was asked what I wanted. I started high, with a voucher to stay for 5 nights at the exclusive resort. I knew it was going to be a big stretch, but worth a shot. They would not accept, but offered complimentary massages. They wouldn't budge after that, but I took it. It wasn't about the massages, or a free stay for 5 nights. It was about practice. I conducted the negotiation using Google Translate, passing the phone with every demand/offer/counter-offer.

My wife managed to pull off a reservation at an exclusive restaurant which is notoriously hard to book. They have the best chefs in Northern Peru.
