On my way to a video shoot I saw a mural for dj Clark Kent who recently died. Anyone over 45 will recognize that name. He was a record producer but was instrumental in connecting biggie to Jay z and Dame dash to Jay z . This was in the 90s so no social media, mass texting and nyc especially brooklyn was less cool than now. However using events and third spaces such as studios are great ways to build a deeper connection with others . Someone like Dj Clark Kent became a name in the music industry by being a content creator- producing a body of work for nyc rappers, suggestor- he suggested shyne a young rapper to now incarcerated Sean combs and connector- after working with biggie for a year he introduced him to a then unknown Jay Z.
