• Waves peel from the peak toward the smaller shoulder. Observe whether the wave is breaking to the left, right, or both. Paddle towards the peeling direction for a smoother ride.

• The smaller shoulder of the wave creates a safe exit for surfers. It’s the logical path to ride out of the wave without getting caught in the white water.
