Game Speed Training
We’re always taught to push ourselves to play at “game speed,” but I’ve often wondered: How fast is full speed, and how do I know if I’m truly pushing myself? Players like Luka Dončić and Kyle Anderson play at a slower pace compared to someone like Russell Westbrook or De’Aaron Fox. So, when I’m training on my own, what should I focus on and what cues should I look for in: 1. Dribbling 2. Shooting 3. Combined dribbling and shooting drills Additionally, I feel that by always trying to play at “game speed,” I’ve neglected learning how to slow down and be patient. How can I find a balance— the “golden middle”—to keep improving my game realistically at “game speed,” while still enhancing my skills through drills?

Shooting
I have noticed with some of my players that they are better at catching and shooting when the pass comes from left to the left hip into lift path vs if pass is still coming from left but in front more. Would this be worked on with using the box lift skill but putting the box in front instead of side?

Coaching new players
How do you start teaching layup. I see in the kids section it starts with the first step finish is that what you suggest? I have started to work on a two foot finish first as these girls are little and we have to play on full size basket seems also that is the shot we get the most. So with the little practice time we get and it is what happens most in game is why I have chose this. I want to know what you think is the way to introduce layups with 3rd 4th 5th grade girls.
