Game Speed Training
We’re always taught to push ourselves to play at “game speed,” but I’ve often wondered: How fast is full speed, and how do I know if I’m truly pushing myself? Players like Luka Dončić and Kyle Anderson play at a slower pace compared to someone like Russell Westbrook or De’Aaron Fox. So, when I’m training on my own, what should I focus on and what cues should I look for in:
1. Dribbling
2. Shooting
3. Combined dribbling and shooting drills
Additionally, I feel that by always trying to play at “game speed,” I’ve neglected learning how to slow down and be patient. How can I find a balance— the “golden middle”—to keep improving my game realistically at “game speed,” while still enhancing my skills through drills?
