What to do when you’re learning something new
This clip is talking on his challenge with his new sales role.
Phil challenges Tycho on his suggestion to quit if you don’t like doing something.
Clip:
Phil, how id approach this period of your life is applying the beginner bias to your struggles.
This is telling yourself: hey this is new and I don’t know what I’m doing so instead of being focused on the best result, let’s focus on progress. Let’s focus on the inputs and improve those over the total output.
how can you make learning this new skill a super fun and rewarding challenge without worrying about results?
The output is simple a lagging measure to confirm we’re progressing in the right direction but complete weight on result will lead to a load of unneed mental friction due to poor expectation setting mixed with a high achiever mindset.
Hope this was valuable brother.
Keep pushing. Inputs over results.
