When to learn the fretboard
I’ve been wondering when is the right time to dedicate the brain cells to knowing all the notes on the fretboard. By ‘knowing’ I mean picking a fret on a string (ex: 8th fret on the G string) and knowing what that note is without having the go from open and count G, G#, A… etc until you get to the 8th fret. Is learning this skill a late beginner task, or something sooner or later than that?
