Taming Your Tension Today is happening in 22 hours
Stress Eating [30days of ME - Day 20]
Munch on this, it can seem sweet then turn sour when you stuff your face with Emotional/Stress Eating Sometimes we eat for reasons other than hunger. Stress, emotional comfort, reward, because it's there, because we're bored, or it was offered to us and we feel it would be rude to decline. Perhaps we are trying to fill some other need. Emotional/stress eating is using food to make yourself feel better. Distinguishing between emotional and physical hunger can be difficult. It's helpful to identify triggers. What situations, places, or feelings make you turn to food for the comfort? Stress, emotions, boredom, avoidance, influences, habits. Instead of allowing automatic and rather mindless eating, pause and put the temptation or craving on hold for 30-60 seconds while you think about the choice. If you choose to go ahead and eat, slow down and savor your food by practicing mindful eating. Today each time you go to eat stop and ask yourself if you're truly hungry or if there may be some other need driving your urge. Share a story or strategy for overcoming emotional/stress eating 》💬

Hydration [30 days of ME - Day 19]
Thirsty for more? Let's wet our whistle with beverages and talk about hydration. We've all been told to drink plenty of water. And, we're likely familiar with the diuretic effect of tea, coffee, and alcoholic beverages. 🫖 ☕ 🍻 While drinks other than water can also provide hydration, these often contain calories, sugar, carbohydrates and/or caffeine. Read more about the great Soda Debate here 🧑‍💻 👈 Aim to consume half your body weight daily. Today drink at least 3 full glasses of water. Start right now if possible. 💧 Tell us about your favorite healthy beverage》👉💬

Sugar [30 days of ME - Day 17]
Sweet! It's Sugar! Sugar consumption is believed to be a major cause of obesity and many chronic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes. And yet the average American consumes excessive amounts of sugar each day. Avoiding added sugar can be incredibly difficult as it's in almost any processed food. The more we rely on quick, packaged snack foods and meals the more sugars and excess calories we consume. Eating sugar produces characteristics of craving and withdrawal, along with chemical changes in the brain. Just like a substance abuse problem, sugar addiction can be perpetuated by constantly following the same patterns, like going to the same coffee shop, snack rack or watching late night TV. Take your mind off sugar by finding a new activity to pursue – knitting, walking, reading, yoga, board games – the sky’s the limit. Life is sweeter without added sugar! Today try to go one whole day with no added sugar. Notice how much sugar you usually consume each day. Research the many names for refined sugars. Read labels. How do you get yourself to go sugar free? Tell us! 》😋💬 PS- Comment "FREE" if you want the 5-day Sugar Detox

Portions [30 days of ME - Day 18]
Is your plate full? Are the servings the right size? Let's have a peek at Portions. A portion, serving, or helping is an amount of food. Sometimes the portion size and serving size are the same, but sometimes they are not. A portion is how much you eat at one time. A serving size is a measured amount of food—1 cup, 1 slice, 1 teaspoon, etc. Portions have grown significantly in our culture of bigger, larger, mega, more! Some meals have portions that are enough for two or more people. Check food labels to see the serving size and how many portions per package. Did you eat the whole bag then notice it was 4 or more servings? Today think about the amounts of each item you eat. Don't judge, don't limit, just notice. Look up a portion guide if you're curious to compare. Become more conscious of quantity consumed. 🤔 What's your oversize portion pleasure food? 》💬
