Frustrated with fragmented company research

Hello Community,

I have been active here several months ago, then signed off to work on a project.

I'm very interested in people's reactions and experiences when you are asked to profile a company for you, or your employer.

You know there is a ton of information but to bring it all in a coherent manner is such an overwhelming chore, let alone within a deadline.

Personally, I've faced this problem for the last 5 years every time I begin a new project for a previously unknown client. To understand the client's place in the market, competition, technology, their USP, etc. would take me between 5 to 9 days of solid research.

However, I'd love to hear how you tackle this issue. What's your biggest anxiety-inducing gripe about this process.
