Put yourself in my perspective for a second…
Imagine I was a potential client looking for an editor for my YouTube channel, and I viewed your social media page (IG, Twitter, etc.) … would I see the kinds of videos I’m looking for?
Would I even see anything that resembles that of an editor at all?
If it’s not abundantly clear that what you do is editing, and the editing you do is for a certain kind of person, then you are absolutely screwing yourself in terms of the amount of work you are missing out on.
It’s a huge common mistake that I see is that a lot of people just don’t know or understand how to properly represent themselves and what they do online to get business.
But good news… it’s pretty simple to fix.
…DRUM ROLL PLEASE… 🥁
THE ONE THING THAT CAN 2X YOUR SUCCESS WITH LANDING CLIENTS:
🔥 FIX YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA PAGES 🔥
NOTE - This goes for every social media, but I’ll reference IG & Twitter below because I think they’re the most important ones mainly.
This shows itself in your social media page bio…
YouTube Video Editor @yourbiggestclient(s) 💻
1M+ Views
DM Me To Work 📧
Link To My Portfolio ⬇️

Or if you have no clients/little experience…
Aspiring Video Editor 💻
DM Me To Work!
Link To My Portfolio ⬇️

This should also show itself in your content…
On Instagram, treat it as a portfolio, showcase all of your client work (if they’re okay with it), caption should say what the video is and maybe add some notes about the edit and how or why you did certain things.
Add a call to action at the bottom of the post saying “DM me to work”
On Twitter, showcase your work and add a little description of what it is & say “DM me to work”
I’m not extremely familiar with Twitter, but start there, and then consider researching some more advanced strategies for attracting clients on Twitter.
And most important for any social media platform you post on… make the content relevant to the ideal client you want to attract.
Example: You wouldn’t post videos of music video edits if you wanted to attract Educational YouTubers, just doesn’t make sense… maybe down the line when you’ve established yourself and want to branch your client base, but you need to niche down in the beginning.
And likewise, you wouldn’t post random pictures of the sky, or something completely unrelated to anything to what you want to attract (clients).
So, if you have a unoptimized Instagram and it’s, for the love of god, PRIVATE!? (smfh😂) for whatever reason, first off make your account public… okay… and secondly fix your bio, have a clean profile pic, delete random posts with no meaning, and start to clean your image up.
Then start posting content that the types of clients you want to attract would be interested in seeing if they clicked on your page
(BTS timeline breakdowns, Before & Afters, Final Video Snippets, Storys of you editing, etc.) Share your relevant work.
I guarantee you if you do this simple task of just cleaning up your page, you will absolutely double your success with your client attraction and outreach efforts.
You’ll get more responses, people will take you more serious and you’ll get more DMs if you start promoting your work and showing off what you’ve done.
P.S. If you want, send your Instagram and/or Twitter and I’ll give you my direct thoughts on how to improve your content and your profile to attract and close the most clients possible.
P.P.S. Have a blessed day y’all 🙏❤️
