Easy Tip To Instantly Increase Tension In Your Edits
In my videos I edit for Ireland Boys Productions, thereโ€™s always some sort of challenge they go through that leads to an ultimate climactic moment. And as that moment leads up, as the editor, I want to be sure Iโ€™m adding tension before the big moment so viewers keep watching and the moment feels epic when it arrives. So hereโ€™s one easy, quick tip on what I do to add that tension and make the moment feel more grand. I start by choosing an epic / suspenseful music track that adds tension and leads up to a climactic moment. I sync up the climactic moment with the moment right before the winner of a challenge is revealed. This creates a moment of suspense where the audience is just waiting to hear who won. Now that the climax of the track is synced up with the moment right before the reveal, I take the current reactions of each contestantโ€™s face and show them all before the answer is revealed. This instills curiosity into the mind and makes it more tense as the energy grows in the moment. This may be hard to understand over a post, but to better understand, I did this exact tip Iโ€™m referring to in this video here: https://youtu.be/QrcmaE_hMaA?si=tQfN_1jxwgmARIcC You can find two moments like this that Iโ€™m referring to at: 1. 25:24 2. 34:24 I edited this video and just finished it yesterday actually ๐Ÿ˜‚ But as you can see, both moments I flashed different angles and the faces of each contestant before they won in sync with the music that leads to a climax. This created tension and a feeling of grandiosity, making the moment feel epic which is exactly what I was going for. Now answer these questions for meโ€ฆ was this post helpful? How can you apply this tip to your edits? Comment below your thoughts and answers ๐Ÿ™

One Tip To Become A Master Storyteller
If you want your content to perform better for your clients, or even for yourself as a creatorโ€ฆ Then you need to learn storytelling ๐Ÿ’ฌ And if I could give you one tip to instantly improve your storytelling abilitiesโ€ฆ Iโ€™d tell you to implementing this one technique called โ€œThe Danceโ€ ๐Ÿ•บ All great stories are a like a dance between 1. Context and 2. Conflict You start by giving some context. The characters on a mission, theyโ€™re doing something, and then all the suddenโ€ฆ A conflict arises. You then give some more context, maybe the characters solve the problem and then againโ€ฆ Another conflict. This dance is how you keep the viewer locked into your story ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Whether itโ€™s a marvel movie or a short form piece of content, the dance should always be there. So why does this work? Well itโ€™s because conflict creates open loops of curiosity in the viewers brain ๐Ÿง  And by giving context, youโ€™re then closing the curiosity loop ๐Ÿ”’ Then when you introduce another conflict, it reopens that curiosity loop which keeps them engaged until the conflict is resolved. /////////////////////////////////////////////// BONUS TIP: Follow the โ€œBut, Thereforeโ€ storytelling structure for your scripts, edits, and videos. Hereโ€™s the structure: [This Happens] THEREFORE [This Happens] BUT [This Happens] THEREFORE [Then This Happens] (Repeat) By writing your story events out like this, your video scripts like this, and even planning your edit like this, you prevent yourself from having a boring video and you create a video where each event is correlated to the next. Dont use words like โ€œAND THEN [This happened] AND THEN [That happened]โ€ When you use โ€œAND THENโ€ to tell your story, youโ€™re just piling on detail after detail and your viewer will lose interest. /////////////////////////////////////////////// ๐Ÿšจ ACTION ITEM ๐Ÿšจ Now that youโ€™ve just read about these techniquesโ€ฆ letโ€™s try something to solidify this information into your brain. In the comments below, reflect on how you can apply this information to the work you do.
