The Worst Market Research Questions You Could Ever Ask
nailing your message is key
for traffic. for conversions. for everything
get the message wrong and your marketing will continually underperform
but how do you know what to say?
how do you figure out how to say it?
how do you know what people want to hear?
simple
if you’re like most people, chances are there’s some confusion, frustration, and stress around getting traffic to your skool page and converting it
I’ve been speaking with a guy this week about exactly that
we’ve been brainstorming his messaging as it’s still quite broad and complex at the moment
he is in a niche that’s quite abstract …
… so it’s hard to convey what he means
but there was honestly a simple solution in front of him
it’s in front of us 24/7, 365
the lightbulb clicked when he said a very short sentence
“it’s difficult for me to put myself in their shoes”
of course it is
the only thing trying to do that does is put you on a plane to hell with a one-way ticket
you can’t
sure, you could try
but you’re just assuming and imagining
if “you 5 years ago” is your ideal client it can work
but you’re still going to miss the mark
so what do you do?
you ask them … you take notes … you listen
you analyse your testimonials and client calls …
you spend some time in reddit and other places they hang out reading their comments …
(gummysearch is an epic tool to get tonnes of reddit data in seconds)
it’s all right there
  • their problems
  • their pains
  • their goals
  • their desires
  • their experiences
and more importantly, their language
when you know the words they use you can write like they talk
your message can be made for them
from here you can tweak, test, and optimise until you find things that really hit home and work
it’s super simple
and it’s highly effective
if you’re stuck wondering “what do I need to say in my marketing” or “how can I better describe my offer” or “how can I get people to see more of the value I’m offering” (or if your conversion rates are low) - go back and compare what you’ve got against what your ideal clients say and the language they use
hope you found this short and sweet copywriting tip valuable
