How 7-Figure Marketers, Market
one of my members asked a great question earlier today on our mastermind call
they wanted to better understand "marketing"
my response forced them to have one of those "aha" moments
the 💡 went on ...
... and something clicked for them
you could see they finally grasped it
and it was perfect timing
as right when it did, you heard the "cha-ching" in their background of a sale being made
their shift was so powerful, I wanted to share the same lesson with you
so, here goes 👇
first, we need to think about marketing in a skool specific context
that means there are only two things we're trying to do:
  1. get people to our about page
  2. get people inside our community
the objective is to get more of both - agreed?
this is where most people then start to separate things ...
  • ads
  • social
  • DMs
  • emails
  • VSL
  • bullets
... and they break it down even more into specific platforms, specific kinds of content, etc
I don't
why?
because it's the change I observed and learned from 7- and 8-figure companies
see, marketing is actually about layering different growth tactics on top of one another
it's an ecosystem
yes, you want to choose ONE CHANNEL ...
... but then you want to LAYER as many different things on top of one another on that channel
with each layer comes a compounding in results
what does this look like?
let's walk through and advertising example
____________________
you've got a community about "monk mode" and it's built by design for young male entrepreneurs and college students
you've got a 5k following on IG and have done what you can to get a segment of them across to skool
now, you want to pour gasoline on the fire
you COULD just run ads and direct traffic straight to skool
that'd work
but what would work BETTER is LAYERING growth tactics on top of one another
  • one campaign retargeting everyone who has engaged with your IG page in the last 60 days ... they see your top 3 pieces of content on monk mode
  • one campaign retargeting everyone who has engaged with your IG page in the last 60 days ... they're driven to a simple landing page where they "opt in" for you 7 day monk mode starter kit
  • one campaign retargeting everyone who has engaged with your IG page in the last 30 days ... they see a "special offer" to get early bird access to Monk Mode Academy
  • one "growth campaign" that's sharing only your top content to a new audience where the objective is JUST reach and awareness ... the call to action is "follow @handle for more Monk Mode Secrets"
  • one "growth campaign" that's sharing snippets of Chris Williamson, Joe Rogan, and other "celebs" speaking about the benefits of monk mode ... and the call to action is "follow @handle for more Monk Mode Secrets"
  • you send your top content of the week prior to the email list, and drive them to the skool community in the call to action using a "stealth sell" ... oh, before I forget, did you know XYZ? It's true! Go here to see how you can get started today ...
see how these all stack together and compound on one another?
the two "growth campaigns" help to increase your followers count AND increase the audience size of people interested in Monk Mode that your retargeting ads will reach
the use of "celebs" speaking about Monk Mode will cause a "status by association" effect whereby the people who ADMIRE and LOOK UP to those "celebs" will associate monk mode with being something valuable ... therefore YOU become more valuable as you're an expert in monk mode and helping people like them apply it
the retargeting campaign sharing your top 3 pieces of content is helping keep you, and the benefits of monk mode, top of mind
the retargeting campaign driving to the email optin is helping you segment people who are "considering" from those that are "just looking" (these are warmer leads you can now market to)
and the retargeting campaign with the "special offer" is going to get the small % of the market ready to act right now to actually act ... they're going to be reminded there's something valuable for them to help them achieve XYZ
it might look complex right now
but when you see what each step is really doing
it's just feeding and supporting each other
  • we need more eyeballs
  • we need more clicks
  • we need better understanding of who's "ready to act now"

I used this same strategy last year to help a biz sell out 5 FREE events and turn $140k ad spend into $6M in sales on the back end
what we also layered on top, because we could, was a social strategy
we didn't promote the event organically at all - just with ads
5 IG stories would be shared each day about the TOPICS the event discussed
the one that got the most engagement and views the day before was repurposed to a video post for the next day
those top performing posts got boosted
the people that interacted with those posts got retargeted with the ads for the event
with each day we were :
  • finding out what topics/content resonated with the market
  • doubling down on those topics
  • creating an audience of people actively engaged with the content
  • retargeting those people with ads for the event
____________________
you can do the exact same for organic social content, outreach, and your about page
and it doesn't have to be complex
you simply need to look at how you can do two or three different things on the platform you're using
and help each one feed the other
this is where you enter the 1+1 = 3 territory
and that's where rapid growth occurs
marketing is not a single-sum event, it is an ecosystem
the better you can link and layer growth strategies on top of one another, the faster your growth is and the more effortless it looks
what most games winners (so far) have figured out is how to leverage:
  • an audience they already have
  • someone else's audience
  • ads
and all they did was ...
(a) get more people to their skool
(b) get more people in it
(c) within a month long window
and they won the game
simple
you may not have the budget for ads or the audience size
but you have the ability and access to all the marketing tools
and that means the odds ARE in your favour
you just have to leverage them as much as you can
hope you found this educational piece valuable (and maybe you also had a marketing 💡 moment)
