Activity Question - for all groups or only for certain group

I am admin in one of the community groups. We have a member that is saying he did not use the resources and he doesn't have an activity but when I checked the activity history on his profile it shows he has May and Sept. He said it's from a different group.

Is it typical for activity history on a profile to include activity from all groups the member is part of? Normally, I don’t encounter this issue because most members only belong to our group.
