So our Q&A on Monday was great as usual. I decided to follow Suresh suggestion to go where the money people are and draw/paint. Today I went to a park in a nicer neighborhood and took my watercolor with me. Saw a few people but didn’t have any conversations. I’m going to keep going and also have a couple of restaurants in mind I’m putting on my schedule!

Good Morning Everyone You all might already know this but I'm just learning about this in 2024 being fairly new (3 years) to the art scene. So this year I've been asked to exhibit at Schools and out of the ordinary institutions, major corporations, one night only galas and upscale parties. Usually they ask to show my work for a week or even only one night. At the start of the year the school was the first and they surprised me with a $500 honorarium check. Then the second school did as well. Then I started looking out for the honorarium. Some of the places had one already in place. Some of these places didn't have one in place, but when I asked if there wasn't an honorarium they would end up implementing an honorarium for me and future artists. So before, I would do the same amount of preparation with no guarantee of a sale, now I exhibit with an expectation of receiving at least an honorarium. At the very least I'm educating the organizations about honorarium for artists so next time they ask someone else they are prepared.

One thing that I like to do is get out of the studio and network with individuals who are in the market to buy and/or place my art. It's a great way to get names and emails to add to your email list and have Collector Conversations. I received an email about Fulton Market Days. It takes place in Chicago June 10-12. It's a great opportunity to meet interior designers and architects, and also see what's trending in the world of interiors.
