Honorarium

You all might already know this but I'm just learning about this in 2024 being fairly new (3 years) to the art scene.
So this year I've been asked to exhibit at Schools and out of the ordinary institutions, major corporations, one night only galas and upscale parties. Usually they ask to show my work for a week or even only one night.
At the start of the year the school was the first and they surprised me with a $500 honorarium check. Then the second school did as well. Then I started looking out for the honorarium. Some of the places had one already in place. Some of these places didn't have one in place, but when I asked if there wasn't an honorarium they would end up implementing an honorarium for me and future artists.
So before, I would do the same amount of preparation with no guarantee of a sale, now I exhibit with an expectation of receiving at least an honorarium. At the very least I'm educating the organizations about honorarium for artists so next time they ask someone else they are prepared.
