1 John 4:1 gives us a very important task and it's important to understand the context of the solution it presents. THE TASK: "1 Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world." THE SOLUTION: "2 This is how we know if they have the Spirit of God: If a person claiming to be a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the Spirit of God. 3 But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist, which you heard is coming into the world and indeed is already here." This passage specifically calls out prophets. But let's say it applies to anyone who is "prophetic". Is this the ONLY test? Choose below the most RELIABLE source for testing them OTHER THAN if they can confess Yeshua/Jesus came in the Flesh. The context of this passage was aimed at the Gnostics who taught Adoptionism and what is now called the Christ Principle. Both are doctrines current making a very popular reappearance. So what if someone is NOT a Gnostic, but has shown tendencies toward the "prophetic". Choose which answer below is the most reliable means of testing the spirit they are prophesying from.

In my opinion 99% of those claiming to be prophets are not.

@Tim Hillis scripture shows prophet's in the bible stayed faithful to the covenants and its laws. They are men not seeking attention but often try to avoid the calling, yet YaH pursues them. Today the gospel is so world wide with tens of thousands of denominations and hundreds of movements. This opens the door for a massive amount of false prophets.
How Does Paul Define the “Works?”
What did Paul mean when he said “Avraham was not saved by works?” Unfortunately many read the word “works” in Roman’s 4 not according to the context of the first century. They have been taught an anachronistic reading of the word “works.” Paul would never contradict himself in his own letters. Just two chapters earlier he states 👇🏻👇🏻 “for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified;” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭2‬:‭13‬ So let’s find out what the word “works” means to Paul. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 https://youtu.be/pUd1H3aYNZU?si=786Mgaxz9Auh7eau

How Does Paul Define the “Works?”
Bibles
What's everyone's favorite Bible version and why? Do you use a chronological version? Which one? For myself, I prefer Tree of Life version or literal translations that are side by side with the Hebrew for the TaNaCH. ToL for daily reading - true to the translation without antinomian bias and literals w/Hebrew for word studies, subject studies. It helps me to see first use of a word/idea and then I can find all subsequent uses easier. Still wish I could read/speak Hebrew fluently though. I do not own a chronological Bible, but I'm looking for a good one.

Our Assembly uses Complete Jewish Bible, Tree of Life Versions and NASB 1995. For us there is no perfect English version. We like to compare different versions.

@Kathlena Deles yes. Amen.
Ready to Discuss Armageddon?
Let's Begin a chat about the parallel of Daniel 11 and Revelation 16. I am going to do something many would NEVER expect. I am using a study guide from the prominent teacher J. Vernon McGee as our guide. I certainly do not agree with every facet of his perspective, BUT I do like how he organized the topic. Keep in mind, that much of prophecy and the study of it is speculative. However, we have much more information available to us now than ever before, so as we discuss PLEASE do not assume anyone is ever correct on every point. But as we study together we can be better prepared to be among those who are following the command of Yeshua/Jesus to WATCH AND PRAY. Your To Do List: 1) Download the Guide 2) Read the manual and make some notes. 3) Join the chat on DEC 1, at 2:30pm (see the Calendar) See you then and there!!

When reading Revelation and Daniel I think it’s wise to consider terms like all, all the world and whole world as being used as a synecdoche. Of course depending on context. I hold both the prophecies in Daniel and Revelation are centrally focused on the Middle East area.
