Here’s one of my first Procreate drawings using Henry’s brushes and layer structure. It’s a trace of a photo of a barn with 2nd floor apartment that I built for a local winery here where I live in northern Michigan.

I do know Tammi’s! She and my wife were roommates many years ago. One of my last projects, pre-retirement, was remodeling her mom’s house which she designed. Small world!

@Henry Gao Thank you!

I’m still searching for my particular style and I find emulating other’s work to be helpful. This project is for a new space off the back of an existing house. I used Sketchup to make a fairly robust model of the proposal and integrated it into the existing with photomatch. I’ve always found interior rendering from 3D models to be time consuming. This iPad methodology really is a game changer. These were early iterations that were meant to capture the overall concept without getting mired in the details.

Nice! The photo part is from SU photo match? Saved/exported as image, then brought into Procreate/Trace? Apologies for trying to pry out trade secrets…
Introduce yourself and share a photo of your workspace
Hey there, it's Henry Gao! 👋 I'm based in the Bay Area, California, hanging out with my lovely family - two kiddos and our golden retriever boy. Though I did the whole architecture school thing in both Canada and the U.S. (yeah, twice!), I discovered that teaching is my true calling in life. Drawing has always been a passion of mine, and now, I've seamlessly transitioned from pen and paper to the wonders of the iPad. When I'm not busy shaping young and old minds, you can find me hitting the trails for a run, exploring nature on hikes, or catching up with our church family. My goal here is to ignite your interest in the iPad scene. But I'm not just about design and drawing! If you've got any burning questions or just want to chat about life beyond architecture, shoot me a message. I'm all ears and ready to share whatever wisdom I can offer. ✨

Hello everyone! I am a retired home builder/remodeler who then ventured into SketchUp visualizations for architects/designers who were using only 2D CAD. Still do that along with ConDocs. Been really energized with iPad drawing under Henry’s class offerings! Using both Procreate and MT at a basic level-excited to learn more here at Skool from everyone here.

Thanks, Henry! I hope to do this to supplement my SU offerings to my clients. I’ve got a ways to go to get to that. So glad to be here!
Project Sharing
This is a fun, small project for friends who are both architectural educators. I think they mainly needed a third voice to help them sort through ideas. A mid century modern house where we are converting an attached porch to a dining space. I mainly used photos and Procreate along with MT for the floor plan. I’d appreciate any critique you might have!

This is such a great way to present a concept to clients. Very excited to see this-I’ve done similar via SketchUp but this could be quicker and more efficient. Nice work!

I like your terminology-it is more uptight and constraining during that phase. Although I love SU, sometimes the constructability concerns override creativity.
Morpholio snuck in a new exciting feature!
Now you can edit images with the erase and lasso tools! This makes transforming textures, materials, and artwork incredibly easy. All you have to do is download the latest version of Trace (be sure to open the app page after you search so you get the “Update” button) and then turn on “Edit Images” in the Settings. #How to transform texture and materials?
