Hi everyone! Stephanie here, from Quebec, Canada. I've been doing SEO for 20+ years now. I do miss the time when you simply had to post a URL in a forum and the whole site was indexed and getting traffic in 48 hours 😅 Currently not working directly in the SEO agency world, but I'm an online marketing strategist and I always incorporate SEO in the work I do with clients. At the moment, I'm playing with Skool SEO in French, and having some cool results. I'm here to exchange with colleagues, and to learn about SEO with ChatGPT to understand the nuances of how it's done.

@Jonathan Boshoff Yes haha I wrote my first ebook about SEO in 2003 I think. In French, so it was even more exotic 🤣
Getting Clients to See the Value in Local SEO
Hello fellow marketers! I’ve been so focused on client work that I’ve neglected growing the SEO side of my own business. Now that I’m diving back in, I’m noticing a lot of resistance to SEO services—particularly Local SEO. I’m targeting service-based businesses (like electricians and plumbers), but despite highlighting the benefits of ranking higher in local searches and attracting nearby customers, I’m struggling to get traction (and struggling to get time in with these busy businesses!). Have you experienced this resistance, and if so, how did you overcome it? Do you have any strategies for getting clients through the door and helping them see the value of Local SEO? Looking forward to learning from your insights!

One thing I did in the past was to build a micro-site, optimized for one type of professional (like plumber) in one city or district. Get it ranked well. Then approach someone and offer them visibility (aka leads) from the already ranked website. Then you can sell add-on services like google map optimization, content creation, etc.
How To Post In The AI SEO Academy
Share your knowledge, or get your questions answered by hundreds of experts. There are so many smart people in this group. We've got Senior SEOs, founders, developers, directors, business owners, CEOs, etc. All in here. If you want to share something cool, or get insights from the awesome people in the group, here's how: 1. You must be level 2 to post. This eliminates spammers. To get to level 2, you need 5 points. You get a point every time someone likes or replies to your comment. This encourages high quality engagement. (I like and reply to most things, so if you post 2-3 comments somewhere, you'll level up right away) 2. Create a great post title. If you are familiar with SEO, you know how important it is to be specific. Posting a title like "Need help?!" is not going to get nearly as much engagement as "Need help automating meta descriptions". Etc. 3. Create informative post details. Put more than 5 seconds of effort into your actual post content. Tell people what you want help with, or share your wins, learnings, struggles, etc. 4. Try to keep it within the realm of SEO and AI. That's what this group is all about. Let's keep it on-brand! 5. Don't be a salesy jerk. If you are constantly trying to get people to book a meeting with you or buy your thing, you'll get banned fast. Look at how much stuff I've given away for free in this group. You are welcome to connect "offline" but this group is for acquiring SEO knowledge and building AI skills, not for selling stuff. What can you post about? - Ask questions about AI + SEO - Ask for feedback on a tool or prompt - Ask people to roast your website! - Share something cool you learned - Share awesome results you got - Anything else that adds value to the community Have fun posting!
