🚨 Want to work with our record label?
Well folks… it’s time. If you’ve been following us for a while, then you already know that our record label, MAD Records, is a little different than traditional labels. Instead of signing artists and taking a share of their music in return (gross 🤮), we sign artists and build education programs around them. We then use profits from these education programs to fund the record deals. We pretty much spent all of 2024 beta testing this new model, and the response from the community has just been overwhelmingly positive. So… with the beta testing now out of the way…. it’s finally time for us to unveil our first official MAD Records education program. Instead of just another online course… this 3-month program actually lets you sit in on our label meetings with our signed artist so you can watch in real time as we promote, develop, and monetize their music. You then get direct mentorship from our team so you can take what you learn in these meetings and implement it into your own artist career. But instead of telling you all about it in a long + boring article, I filmed this video to explain exactly how this program works, what it includes, and how you can learn more if you’re interested. [Watch me awkwardly talk into a camera about our new program, “The Artist Incubator” by clicking this link right here….. go ahead…… give it a click] I also want to take a moment to personally thank everyone for the amazing support behind this new model… we’re really trying to change the music industry for the better, and I’m so excited to finally unveil this to the world. I look forward to working with you all…… or…. at least those of you who join. 👉 👉 👉 Learn more about “The Artist Incubator” by clicking here. Looking forward to working with you... Yesssss let's go! As can be read in my testimonial on the landing page, this program is amazing. 10000% recommend at least jumping on a call with Michael to see if this is for you
Where can I hear some TRE members music?
I’d love to hear songs from the OG’s here. The VIPs tend to keep to themselves. Any success stories from TRE students making a career in music?

@Jason Tufts Look at that, you're an enlightened one! Really happy for you to have joy as your ROI! Definitely something I learned too late and many with me.

@Berlin RedluX You know I am a huge advocate for TRE, but I'm also annoyingly honest so I love your enthusiasm as always but TRE really does not teach 100%. The program severely lacks in education around top lining. Sure, you can ask Lucy and Caleb about it in a mentor session but you'd need to know what questions to ask as there is still no front-to-back curriculum for it, which made me join other communities to get that education (unsuccessfully, as nobody can teach as good as the TRE mentors). I also truly believe not every songwriter should be a producer and definitely not full stack. Saving money is one thing but with no talent or desire to handle a computer, it makes it worth a lot more to be a creative spirit detached from technology surrounding yourself with computer nerds to finish up your pure creations after you're done writing an album in the forest without wifi (thinking about Lizzy McAlpine here for example). There truly is something to be said for outsourcing the technical part and inviting others into the creative process. After all, the business part of TRE is exactly teaching us to help people in that position. It is truly in TRE's benefit to not have every music creator become a full stack music producer. The alumni's need clients for the program to keep its value too. But more importantly, I really believe the music gets better when everyone does the part they like and nothing they despite. That said, as @Jason Tufts is already full stacking himself, I'd love to see him take it to the next level inside of TRE of course! I also like his critical questioning so that would be great company to have on the inside to keep the mentors on their toes (as if Caleb isn't skipping enough sleep for us yet lol) Also, for future readers: The moment TRE adds a songwriting module you should sign up immediately as I know Caleb is gonna crush it on that one! It just hasn't arrived yet as of today and I don't want to give false hope to people.

Why does Jake/Dane have the SoundID plug-in off when mixing and mastering?
Was just looking through Fix The Mix events and the How To Master Your Music 6 hour course and they have SoundID on their Stereo Output chain, but don’t have the plug-in activated. Is there a reason for this?

It is bypassed because it would mess with the sound of the screen recording. In a real world scenario they would have it engaged but when demonstrating techniques it is more important that you, the viewers, get a neutral sound than that they get a calibrated sound. Otherwise you'd walk away from their lessons like "dude their mixes sound like shit" just because sonarworks is messing with the EQ curve. Hope that makes sense?
Noise Canceling Headphones
Hi everyone. Just wanted to share since I’m learning music production everywhere I go, I started looking for a noise cancelling headphones. I’m testing Sony XM5 headphones they just started selling at Costco here. I enjoy it so far. Apple headphones is not an option since I need aux for with my computer. How about you? Do you use any noise cancelling headphones? Which one is your favorite?

I sometimes produce on my Sony XM3s with Sonarworks calibration but never do a final mix on it.
