Xmas slowdown...
So lab mates... I'm gonna start winding down for the festivities now, posting less often, and going into hybernation mode. I'll be back to full swing in 25 to kick off the new year with DAILY video tips for you to supercharge your email growth. Mon 6th Jan onwards. I'll post the occassional thing between now and then, but less about email, and more about being festive and jolly! 🎄 BUT, if you need me, I'm here, any time, so ping me a DM and I'll come back to you. Have an awesome Xmas and new year, and thank you BIG TIME for joining my community, it means the world, and I want to support you the best I can into the new year.

Hi Joe, great question! The following are good questions to ask yourself when putting together a newsletter: 1. Can I make the email more personal to the reader (by adding personalization and dynamic content)? 2. What real value am I providing my readers with? (nurture readers with helpful freebies rather than bombarding them with sales pitches) 3. Does my newsletter have a clear goal and CTA? 4. Can I use storytelling to convey my message better? I hope that's helpful!
3 list health tips 🧹
List health is email marketing 101, but let’s be real—how often are you actually doing it? 🤔 Let’s fix that with three game-changing tips to keep your list squeaky clean and your emails landing in inboxes, not spam folders. 🚀 1. Permission is EVERYTHING. Only email people who’ve explicitly said, “Yes, I want your emails!” Don’t scrape LinkedIn contacts or buy dodgy data. Not only is that a GDPR nightmare, but it’ll tank your deliverability faster than you can say “spam folder.” A spam complaint here, a bounce there—before you know it, your email tool bans you. Stick to consent—it’s sexy and effective. 2. Validate those emails. Forget double opt-in—it kills conversions. Instead, use email verification tools. They catch fake addresses and bots before they pollute your list. Pro tip: if you’re sharing a lead magnet, email the download link rather than showing it on the form submission page. No real email, no freebie. 💡 3. Ruthlessly prune your list. Cold subscribers (those ignoring you for 90+ days)? Delete. Bounced emails? Delete. Unsubscribed? Gone. Keeping disengaged contacts doesn’t just cost you money on platforms like Mailchimp—it tanks your sender reputation. And if your reputation dips, your deliverability follows. Bye-bye inbox visibility. Prune weekly or monthly—make it a habit. ✂️ These small steps protect your list, your wallet, and your reputation. Keep it clean, keep it lean, and watch those open rates soar. Let’s do this! 👊

Really great tips there Doug! We were forgetting to prune, so we set up an automation that does this for us. We simply segment the users by classing them as inactive if they haven't received or opened an email from us in the last 9 months and then send them a final email checking they're no longer interested in hearing from us. If not, the automation removes them. Would you recommend reducing that time frame to 90 days?
