Photos of the Day #1 - 9/5/24
Hi everyone let's start sharing one photo every day here in the community. Doing so can help us all: 1. Improve in making daily choices of what pictures to share. 2. Improve telling their stories. 3. Help us all climb up the levels. 1 - Select a picture and attach it in your comment 2 - Write the story about the selected picture If you like a picture someone else shared, please add a comment to it. And I guess I'll start to get this thing going. Photo Title: "Rejuvenation" The Story: The hike back from the inside of the sand dunes field is always the toughest. Arriving at Mesquite Sand Dunes for the first time was definitely a memorable adventure, especially since we didn't know we'll see such field before we get to Death Valley National Park. We parked the car in Mesquite Sand Dunes parking lot, grabbed my camera gear and head out into the sands. We had so much fun running up and down the dunes finding all kinds of interesting compositions of abstract scenery. The running up and down was pretty tiring since some of the dunes were very tall. It first glance you think to yourself, "this should be easy", but half way up you're already breathless. After a couple hours of excitement, with sand up our ears, it was time to get back to the car and continue our journey. That's when I captured this image. A simple, quiet and beautiful dune snaking out from where I stood to the outskirts of Mesquite Sand Dunes. The dune was scarred by a few people who walked on it earlier but I knew the scars will disappear soon because the wind started blowing and most of the tourists and photographers were on their way out of the field. It was time for Mother Nature for rejuvenation. That was the last photograph I captured that day. The way back was very tiring after climbing up and down trying to satisfy our curiosity to see what's around the corner. Now, all we wanted was to get to the car and head out, so all we did was hike back. It was a constant walk from the deep of the field, across some very tall sand dunes, and rest was not an option.

Photo Title: "The Milky Way through Owachomo Bridge" The Story: I had always been fascinated by the beauty of the night sky. The twinkling stars, the glowing moon, and the endless expanse of the Milky Way all mesmerized me. So, when I heard about the stunning views of the Milky Way from Owachomo Bridge in Natural Bridges National Monument in Utah, I knew I had to make the trip. The journey began with a 20-minute hike through the dark. I had to rely on my flashlight to guide my steps, but the anticipation of what lay ahead kept me going. As I neared the bridge, I could see the faint glow of the Milky Way in the distance. I quickened my pace, eager to capture the breathtaking view. As I reached the bridge, I set up my camera and tripod, took a deep breath, and snapped the first photo. The results were breathtaking. The Milky Way was a stunning swirl of stars, framed perfectly through the arched bridge above. I snapped a few more photos, each one more beautiful than the last. As the night wore on, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to capture such a breathtaking scene. It was a moment I would never forget, and a photograph I would treasure forever. The trip had been worth it, and I knew that this would not be the last time I ventured out into the dark to capture the beauty of the night sky.

I was alone and a little scared. It was 11PM. When I got to the arch someone was there. He had set up a fixed light that was illuminating the arch and making a video.

Great itinerary. I've been to Natural Bridges at Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor. I wouldn’t recommend if it is raining and muddy. This is a dangerous hike. You need to be a strong, fit hiker with appropriate hiking gear, including good hiking boots. And standing on the bridge is not for the faint of heart. There is also Bandon Beach at sunset, Thor's Well at high tide at sunset and on a clear day the Cape Perpetua overlook and historic stone shelter built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. Don't forget about Oregon's ever changing weather especially on the coast. It is more often than not cloudy, windy and cold. I have been in Oregon 5 years and am still exploring and photographing all it's wonders.

Everything I see is a photograph. I am inspired by design whether it is natural or man-made.
