I always did like Mary Ann the best...
Passive Income: The Key to Lasting Wealth Most of the cast of Gilligan's Island had no idea the show would last beyond their initial contracts. They were paid per episode, and their income stopped after the first five reruns. But one cast member thought ahead. Dawn Wells, who played Mary Anne, negotiated a small royalty for every repeat. The studio agreed, thinking the show wouldnā€™t have much of a future. They were wrong. 50+ years later, Gilligan's Island still airs and Dawn Wellsā€™ royalties have grown into tens of millions of dollars. The lesson? Passive income is the true key to building lasting wealth. A smart deal today can pay dividends for life.

That's a good lesson. It's tempting to take a higher one off payment, but clearly it's better to take an on going percentage if possible.
Can I give you my buyers?
I want to send you my newsletter's paid members. I've got a newsletter about side hustles with 7600 subscribers. A chunk of them are buyers paying monthly or yearly. If you have a course that'd match this audience?... ... I'd like to give your course to my members... And in exchange I'll send you all the buyers who want the course. *The caveat is it needs to be a course that's for sale (not something they can get for free somewhere else). *If you're an expert and would be up for doing a "how to do X" interview? That could also work in place of a course. Open to the idea? Shoot me a DM about the course you have in mind and we can work out the details. Looking forward to talking to you!

Hey James. Sounds an exciting prospect. Sent you a DM.
Update 2: My first deal as a "licensing agent"
Thank you to @Phil Wheatley for gently nudging me for a status update on this :) Here's the last update if you're following along. Since then, we tested the delivery system. It works! Yay! My distribution partner drafted up a promo email for the pdf guide. We sent it to 1000 of his most recent buyers as a test. Great open rate. Not so great click through rate. No sales. So concluded maybe it was the email copy causing the poor performance. I'll draft up a new email and we'll shoot it out to another 1000. He wants to see some sales performance before we swap out his current upsells that are performing. I don't blame him at all. Other causes could be... It's now slow season for the flagship product. Which means less traffic and less demand. Or it could be the product guide itself. Guess we won't know without more testing. A couple lessons I can immediately take away from this experience... 1) Moving forward with new licensing projects I'll look to source products already proven in the marketplace instead of creating a new one. I'm not saying it's bad. I like what we created. But using a proven product with sales from the get-go eliminates a lot of the guess work when testing. If there's one tip I could give to someone acting as licensing agent, it would be to source something proven. Something with sales behind it. Will save you tons of time and energy. 2) The digital delivery system is kinda exciting. I've been pretty busy with some other projects so I haven't given much thought to it yet for other possible applications. I've had a couple people reach out to explore how it might be put to use. Maybe some licensing plays there. I'm gonna hit an Ozarks bluegrass fest this week, give myself a chance to decompress... ...make some room for idea flow. So to those peeps just know I haven't forgotten ya. I look forward to linking up soon šŸ¤™

Hey Adam! Thanks for the update, it's very helpful seeing a live campaign. Sometimes it's helpful to imagine you are the prospect being presented with this offer. If I was buying a detecting device to see if somebody was hiding a camera in a hotel room, is that a "hair on fore" enough of a problem that I would want to buy a guide on security? Of course, you did the right thing by trying it as that is the only way you know. As you say, easier to find a product that has proven to sell, already has the marketing material etc, then you really are acting purely as a connector. Of course, the flip side is you're adding another person into the mix you have to negotiate with, and split revenue with etc. It might be that you can do another deal with this same guy, but a different product. I wonder if he would be open to you somehow asking his list what it is they would like, or have problems with? It would also be interesting if you could speak with anybody who was sent your offer to see why they didn't buy it? But knowing what they would buy is more crucial of course.
Second go at Shogun Method (Oh crap! He's got a 330k list)!
Ok. From the sublime to the ridiculous maybe. My first go was a reasonable success with a deal done with an owner of a 3k list of subscribers where a 3 time blast cost me just $50. On my second go, with a different list owner, I have sent out the first email enquiring if he would be open to someone sponsoring the newsletter (worded in the special Shogun Method way) and his response was a simple "Tell me more". So I responded as per the Shogun method again and asked him basically what kind of price would work for him on a test like this and he came back with... "Hi Roy, This can go outĀ to over 330k people for $10k USD (paid upfront)." Wow! So, I'm a bit stumped at that. $10k is obviously way too big for a test and a lot more than I'd want to spend right out of the gate, so.. Help @Travis Sago! How the heck should I respond? Thanks in advance.

What about asking if you could get a price on sending to a small segment. If that went well then you could look to scale. Just a thought.
The Shogun Method - Deal done from very first email sent!
So I sent my first Shogun Method email out to a list owner and here we are with the first deal done! He only has a small list of 3,000, but after his first reply asking about how much I was prepared to pay, I used (virtually copy and pasted) the 2nd email template from the Shogun Method to reply and we have a deal at the price HE suggested. 3 separate ads in his weekly newsletter. Total cost for 3 ads to his 3k subscribers?... $50 bucks! Hmmm. Reckon I might use the Shogun Method a LOT more! Thanks @Travis Sago

@Chad Boswell 20 bucks!!! My goodness, that's daylight robbery šŸ˜‚. Even though it's 400 people, they could be really responsive, and just one sale would put you in serious profit, based on the price, or if list building, can sell to them for years. Good work!

@Chad Boswell Well, it was a good test. In this game, you have to kiss a few frogs until you get a winner, but it will be worth it. Thanks for posting your results and good luck.
