Win to celebrate!
Just wanted to celebrate a win. I had probably the best livestream I've had so far since starting to livestream and spend more time as a content creator a couple of months ago! Plus was super cool to see the voice actor who plays the voice of Paimon in the game I was streaming popped in and viewed my stream (albeit for a very short period of time, but I'll take it!)

@Wyatt Watson I felt honoured, haha!
Shorts Video
I posted this shorts video and it did pretty well but along with most of my shorts it stopped getting views eventually. For the people who post shorts often, what do you find is the main difference between the shorts that hit the plateau and those that keep progressing after a long period of time?

@Parker Wolf That does makes sense to me, however, my stats don’t support that. My retention was actually still growing well past the point that the video plateaued. YouTube had stopped showing the video to new audiences around noon my time on Nov 1, where the average view duration was at 15 seconds (the video is only 13 seconds long, so still well past the 100% view duration). Yesterday, my average view duration was still climbing and was at 17 seconds long (audience retention is still growing and currently at 119.6%). So that doesn’t quite make sense in this case…

@Parker Wolf I think I identified the issue… when looking at swipe metrics, on Oct 31, the video peaked at 74.9% of people choosing to view the video instead of swiping it away. Then on Nov 1, it dipped slightly to 73% of people choosing to watch the video instead of swiping away. Even though that metric was still amazing, and all other metrics were continuing to grow, the algorithm must’ve detected the slight dip in engagement and decided to cut off traffic to the video… It’s the only explanation that I can think of that sort of makes sense (even though holistically it doesn’t make sense looking at the larger picture)
Sharing a Win
Im pretty excited about these wins. I have been nominated for 2 awards for the New England Music Awards and 1 for The Boston Music awards which are regional and for national, I won a Josie award and I got to give a short speech at the Opry. If you know anything about the opry its country music's church and standing in the circle is part of that. here is a short video of my speech. Thanks everyone for the community and the encouragement to keep moving forward. I hope you are all doing the same. https://www.instagram.com/houstonbernardmusic/reel/DBr6953y_aO/

Amazing!!! Congrats!!
Is TikTok capping views for anyone else?
Anyone else noticing their view counts on TikTok getting stunted around ~200 views? The last couple of videos I've posted had some decent metrics compared to some of my older videos, but the views are much lower comparatively. I'm trying to analyze the metrics and see how I can improve view counts, but doesn't seem like improving watch time / video completion rate is affecting my view counts at all...

@Parker Wolf Yeah that could be the case...

@Parker Wolf I think you might be right. Looking at my posting history on TikTok, my videos over 1 min have gotten more views (even with worse analytics), whereas when it comes to YouTube, those shorts have been performing much better — I have one video that’s about 13 seconds long that is still collecting views that I posted on Monday night and it’s already past 1.4K views and climbing. I wouldn’t necessarily call it viral yet, but it’s certainly performing way better than on TikTok anyway.
Grindstone creator spotlight!! 🌟
Huge shoutout to @Scott Clampet. 😎 In his first few months here in Grindstone, he: - grew his Instagram following by 33% - got the blue checkmark (verified on Instagram) - just did his first stream The stream was a bit laggy and clunky on his van's wifi. But I attended for ~2 hours while finishing some work at the end of the night. It was awesome to listen to him build great songs from scratch. He was funny. Shouted out all viewers and comments in intense reverb and auto-tune. Excited to see your continued growth my man! 🥳
