I finally made the video I've been wanting to create...
After a great conversation with Nima last week, I finally made the video I wanted to make.....expressed what I had been unable to speak to with clarity before. The key was to let go of the many expectations I had about myself. To lighten up a little, to let my hair down (literally, I never have my hair down) and to just speak. Here's the final product: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHrBFuyNLho&t=16s&ab_channel=OneUpOneDown

What's the purpose?
I get private messages that are nuggets of gold... I totally understand and respect why many like to have private conversations - however... this group is about us learning and growing together. This is my solution: I will share bits of what's communicated in private - for the benefit of the many - without giving away who relayed it. Someone in the group said he's in it to create viral videos. I asked what the purpose is for him. This is his reply: "Financial freedom. I donโ€™t think thatโ€™s my final answer though. Come to think of it, I never asked myself this question before." What about you? Have you asked yourself this question? And if you have, are you willing to share the answer below? For most, the purpose of being here is to earn, either more from what they're doing, or earn from a new business they're setting up.

For me, it's self-expression. I have an innate desire to share what I learn. When I do it, I feel alive, like I am realising something about myself.
Hello! I'd love your help in shaping my "known for" statement
Hello everyone, I'm Co-Founder of OneUpOneDown, a company building software that matches women into highly relevant mentorship relationships, with each match lasting 3-months. I wear a few other hat too. After going around in circles trying to land on an all encompassing "what I want to be know for" statement, I have come up with something simple: I want to be know for delivering world-leading mentor-matching software for women-focused communities and organisations. What do you think? Is this clear and compelling?

@Christy Sarkis thank you, this is a great addition! You hit the nail on the head. Cultivating confidence, communication and leadership skills for women is exactly the reason why we launched OneUpOneDown. Updated statement: I want to be known for delivering world-leading mentor-matching software for women-focused communities and organisations. Why? To cultivate confidence, communication and leadership skills in women. Thanks! :)

Communicating about a conflict / issue
Hello :) I've recently joined the community. I had a thought that's been looming around conflict/issue communication and managing the flow on how the receiver is viewing/hearing the communication. Ie. Ensuring it's about the message and not the receiver. It's common for a receiver to think it's about the person and not the situation at hand. The question is around how to avert personal tension? How to ensure the relationship with the person is not compromised as a result of addressing a topic/issue head on

This is such a point for consideration, thank you for sharing! A realisation that had a big impact on me and how I manage conflict is separating the outcome or event at hand from the long-term relationship. I found myself sacrificing outcomes that I wanted in order to maintain peace within relationships. This actually had a negative impact on my ability to build relationships, and my ability to get the outcomes I wanted, so it was lose/lose. What I realised is that relationships are long-term engagements with many touch points. Having tension within these engagements is okay, and in fact, working through tension in a way that is honest and respectful can strengthen the relationship. Untangling the event from the relationship helps me to gain clarity about what needs to be done in relation to the event, and what needs to be done to continue to build the relationship. Hope this makes sense.
The pathway to perfect = putting in the reps
I want to make things perfect! I've spent a lot of time perfecting things in my head but produced very little out in the world (in terms of content). Time to shift my perspective to focus on putting in the reps and producing rather than perfecting - thanks, Nima!
