Changing Distribution
My last release was completely screwed up by Distrokid so I’ve changed to Tunecore. I have a few considerations that I need some help with. I don’t have a very big catalog I have 18 songs. I’d say that about a third of these songs are worthy to be promoted as singles and the rest can easily be placed on a best of compilation album. I’ve released my music in the form of EP’s and singles, but if I’m changing distribution I want to focus on the few singles that deserve more attention as singles and place the rest on a album. If I do this I believe I will be virtually starting over with streams. That sucks but I’m ok with starting over because I feel like I’ve gotten a better understanding of how to release music then from when I first started. Has anyone else changed distribution and or taken music down and uploaded it again in a different capacity?

@Bill Okeke hey bro, quick question. How do I handle release dates for re-releasing? When asked if the song was previously released? I’m tryna switch everything to Tunecore. Thanks

I would like to see more live sessions from the bros. It was dope though I was slightly distracted because I was at work.
How Yall Feel Bout Punchin In?
Back when rappers used to record on analog tape or studios with the Digital DAT systems, an MC's skill level seemed to be predicated upon his/her ability to get through the full verse in one take. After Pro Tools became the norm, seems like rappers started to dedicate less time to trying to memorize their verse in it's entirety. 😂 Listening to a Lil Wayne Sqad Up mixtape in the 2005 used to blow my mind when I thought that Weezy would just go in from start to finish. After I saw his actual recording method required a series of Punches throughout the track, I began to worship his engineers for their ability to make it all sound clean and consistent. Nowadays even all of the veterans from yesteryear punch their asses off... I've noticed many punch in throughout an Eminem album. Hov still memories his verse before he lays it down yet other rappers lack that type of integrity. Does it bother you when people claim to be the best when they can't get through their material in one take?

I myself personally don’t like punching in. I like my recordings to always have a live feel and it’s my belief that can more often than not be accomplished in a one take recording. Don’t get it twisted though. I think it takes skill to get good at punching in as an artist. It’s also my belief that an artist should show up to the recoding sessions well practiced, leaving the engineers only to capture greatness from the artist vs The engineers having to make an average at best performance sound good.

Exactly. We need the technology but it has greatly lowered the barrier of entry. I also think it’s one of the reasons why we don’t have timeless hits any more.
Older Artists
In today's industry is there still an "age limit" to when you should stop trying to be an artist? Or is it truly unlimited?

As far as I’m concerned. I think Aalyiah said it best. Though it’s crucial that the artist is real with themselves and actually have the goods to add to the art/entertainment world.

I’m Moon from Seattle and I create drum music. I’m interested the Arts in general. Especially if it’s created by a human who has original ideas.
