I need to build tear on anivia but do I start dorans or tear?

So, I have been playing since season 7, I have played Sona on my first acc that I lost after the migration. Level 7 mastery. I picked her because she has a lot of utilities, from buffed attacks to ms boost, and she is also really on clashes, like I just have to distance myself, heal up, once the green passive is on attack the damage dealer and provide more buffs. But I feel like I am no yet using her to her fullest. How can I do that?

I had a game where I went 6/1 and snowballed from there. At one point I was 22/2. We had 1 drag to their 3 and their mid inhib was open. I pinged and tried to force them off drag and when no one rotated, I tried to get them off by making them answer us, and ideally we'd take a decent amount of their base in the process. I ended going in alone, no one tried to contest or punish them when we knew they were almost certainly on infernal soul, and I died to them because they pincered me and a lot of momentum was gone. We ended up losing because urgot and I went in but slightly staggered, and a 2 for 3/4 trade ended up losing us the game. I had asked repeatedly to go in together and urgot finally did, but after they had soul. I was in a position where if I was a better player I could've won and I'd like to know what I can do better. I normally lose the first game against champs I haven't faced before, but this one felt winnable.
