Nice to be here (joined yesterday). I'm in a mid-life career transition. From product designer Silicon Valley to residential interior design (possibly retail environmental branding too). In the past few years I've become clear that I want to move into interior design. Have been a bit scared because I wonder if it will take too long to build the reputation one needs to be wildly successful. I'm also used to a multi-6-figure salary from previous career. Though I haven't been passionate about it for a decade. I've decided happiness is more important. I currently do not have a degree in interior design. I have a certification in international color consulting from an interior design school in Canada and was half way through an interior design certificate when I took a design director position that slowed me down 2 years from ID. I do have a few portfolio items. A home staging project I did that increased the sale by 50k in the Palm Springs area and mood-boards from 2 projects in Portland Oregon. I live in Tucson AZ. But am working on re-locating to San Diego ASAP. I'm getting ready to dive into the market. I do have a business name, website and LLC. Inside Out Habitat is the name of my new biz. Question: Should I try to get projects while in Tucson or wait until I'm living in San Diego? PS: So inspired by you all. Excellent!
