Freddie’s - day 4 - recall/impulse control
Continuing with recall on walk off lead - reminding myself to get him next to me in position - then mark, then reward - now waiting for release word without wait cue Continuing impulse control at gates - some prompting needed to wait while I go through first. Good with crossing road - able to get closer without dropping to floor No lead pressure today - hoopers tonight 😁

@Nick Benger feeling really focused to keep doing the simple things & plugging the holes in my training I’ve started listening to “the slight edge” again too - read it for the first time in lockdown & it made a huge difference - such simple principles but simple doesn’t mean easy! Thankyou for creating this community ❤️

@Nick Benger yes that’s it - welcome to borrow my copy Will do 😁
Freddie day 3 - recall/impulse control
Continuing with using different parts of walk for training - started with coming out of drive & dog on long lead out in front so too close & Freddie reacted - switched to management & walked back into drive to increase distance - spent some time slowing him to sniff & calm before setting off. Using treats as cars approach if coming within 5metres. Needing less prompting for waiting at gates whilst I go through first 🥳 Good recall off lead without distractions Huge win today was when he appeared from river bank with the remains of something 😳 previously he would have eaten it & if I tried to stop him either guarded or eaten faster ( history of resource guarding ) to my surprise on the second leave it cue, he dropped it & followed me 🥳🥳🥳🥳 Aiming for leash pressure session this evening

@Lynda Comerford it’s easy to fall into the trap of focusing on what we can do better & forget to celebrate how well we are doing 🙏
Post Your FAVOURITE Picture of Your Dog!
We've had an influx of new members and many of you won't know each other so I thought it would be fun to share some photos. What's the photo you show people when they ask to see your dog? Here are mine; Lupe, Onyx, Louis, Pablo.

Freddie
Freddie day 2 - part 1!
decided to separate training into 2 sessions - 1 as part of daily walk. On the walk to fields I focus on managing his reactivity to cars/joggers with high value treats - contractions today 🥳 In fields - focused on recall - distance/duration & distractions - good recall - no close distractions Then just let him chill/sniff/walk off lead Impulse control at gates - now waiting while I open gate - cue wait & first time today he waited while I went through first then came through on release word - ok ( previously I’d been letting him through first) On walk back along pavements practised llw on collar - I need to be clear on my boundaries/criteria Used lead pressure to sit at crossing points 😁 Part 2 will be leash pressure

Freddie’s Day 1 - leash pressure
Started indoors at home - quickly got the hang of sitting - really focused on me indoors so not really looking away to practise recall & attention properly. Will aim for outside tomorrow
