QUIET VOLUME MIX FIX HELP PLEASE
So…when I tried volume mixing on something simple I am working on…it’s only 4 tracks, by the time I zeroed everything out, the mix sounded MUCH quieter. It’s just a regular piano, a male vocal, a female vocal and auxiliary piano. I don’t remember the playback on the challenge sounding audibly quieter. Bonus question: Is there anything in particular or peculiar to look out for mixing male and female vocals, like a duet, in the same track? THANKS!

J Es, you should find your track as it is (was). Then you should adjust your GAIN (Either by normalizing all tracks or adjusting the GAIN on each individual track) until your volume METER peaks at around -10db on the, when the FADER is on 0.0.
Voxengo SPAN's perfect curve
Who here uses Voxengo SPAN's instead of the PAZ Analyzer, and if you're a SPAN pro could you please explain to me a bit better how does a great mix should look like, isn't it a little more "straight" and less sloped than what PAZ shows as the ideal goal?

@Phil Collis Hi Phil, its personal preference, but PAZ seemed very easy and straightforward with that slope, as well as the 20db per square explanation, so I feel like I understand PaZ naturally 100x better than SPAM despite being the one I have…
logic drummer kit
Does anyone use logic x's drummer kits, and if so how do you go about mixing them? I have been using them for a while but I feel like I am not mixing them properly.

@Mike Fryz I think what he means is he gets the "idea" from the Drummer track, transfers into MIDI, and then uses for example a Sampler (on Slice mode) to trigger midi with different sounds to make drums and percs. That's what I do for my glitch perc and etc...

Parts of what I'm missing but also got some insight today was the overlay of frequencies when it comes to SUB + MID BASS and maybe lets say a top layer of distortion to give some crisp... I feel like I sometimes struggle to allow my sub or bass to be clear enough, without creating maybe too much buildup there

@J Es amazing input. Its definitely easier said than done for me, but to be fair I KNOW that I simply need to reference more, and FORCE myself to open it up more than once in the session (more like every 20-30 min) to keep focus. Appreciate the insight

Started in GHouse back in 2013 the project got some traction but stopped for over 6 years. Now coming back into Minimal Deep Tech.
