SEPTEMBER FABRIC UPDATES ANNOUNCED (FabCon2024)
So now we have confirmation of the new features that are being launched at FabCon. There are three main places to look: - The September 2024 Fabric Update Blog - Arun Ulag's summary of the announcements, which is also useful - If you like video, you can watch the Microsoft YouTube video on the updates: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWQMlt9ikE0 It will take a few hours (or days/ weeks) to digest everything that's in there, but a few that caught my eye on first look: General: - Git Integration is now GA - New Fabric Terraform provider has been released (Preview), to enable infrastructure-as-code/ automation. - Access Databricks Unity Catalog tables from Fabric (public preview) Data Warehouse - T-SQL NOTEBOOKS! This is really cool - and opens up new options for Data Analytics (who know T-SQL), I mentioned this in my latest video. - Delta column mapping in the SQL analytics endpoint (public preview) - this allows users to be a bit more liberal with column names (including spaces, if that's your jam) Data Engineering - Support for spaces in Lakehouse Delta table names - T-SQL Endpoint now working on Lakehouse with Schemas (but Lakehouse Schemas still preview: use with caution!).

Exciting Governance features revealed (First Look, not released yet)
Just saw this post on LinkedIn from Jon Stjernegaard Vรถge on some new Governance features which are currently being developed - I'm glad Microsoft are taking this direction - looks very promising. Jon's post: "There were a few hidden gems revealed at hashtag#FABCONEUROPE yesterday, which were not shown at the keynote: ๐…๐š๐›๐ซ๐ข๐œ / ๐Ž๐ง๐ž๐‹๐š๐ค๐ž ๐‚๐š๐ญ๐š๐ฅ๐จ๐  and ๐ƒ๐š๐ญ๐š ๐€๐œ๐œ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐‡๐ฎ๐› Two extremely promising governance features which will help patch some of the current shortcomings.I snapped a few (poor) pictures as seen below, which might give you an idea. 1) ๐…๐š๐›๐ซ๐ข๐œ / ๐Ž๐ง๐ž๐‹๐š๐ค๐ž ๐‚๐š๐ญ๐š๐ฅ๐จ๐  At-a-glance overview of governance status by Domain, Workspace and Item with suggested actions, and easy to browse lists and lineage views of all items. All of this searchable and filterable. Also seems like Domains in general will play a larger role in your architecture 2) ๐ƒ๐š๐ญ๐š ๐€๐œ๐œ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐‡๐ฎ๐› Are you also looking track of which people have access to what? Microsoft is planning a one-stop shop for data access, where you can browse, review and edit all your user and item permissions in your data estate. Sensitivity Labels and Endorsements appear very integrated, and will play a pivotal role in this as well ๐Ÿค๐ŸงฏThe exact timeline and functionality for these appears unknown at this time, but Iโ€™m personally very excited! What do you think?"

It did sound like they were going to add Purview-like governance features into Fabric, but Purview can cover your whole estate, not just Fabric.

Semantic model enrichment
Can a semantic model be enriched in Fabric with Excel or other types of tools?

@Adolfo Illera Jimรฉnez could you use Semantic Link Labs? semantic-link-labs ยท PyPI specifically the TOM package: sempy_labs.tom package โ€” semantic-link-labs 0.7.3 documentation
tables missing in sql endpoint view/mode
Hi I've uploaded local csv files into a lakehouse and then I was able to use the Load to Tables > New Table option to create respective tables under the dbo tree; however, I'm not able to locate/see the tables when I navigate to the SQL Analytics Endpoint and expand the Schemas > dbo > Tables tree structure. I've tried to refresh the tree and I know the parque files exist in the lakehouse. What am I missing here? It's a trial instance of fabric.

@Scott Friedman we noticed exactly the same behaviour when training colleagues. Haven't had a chance to look further into it.
PowerBI Report Sharing
Hi There. Is there a way to share my powerbi report with users in my company that do not have powerbi pro lic like for them to view the report i'm sharing? If so how? How can Power Automate or SSIS help?

I believe that a Fabric F64 capacity doesn't then require PBI report viewers to have a PBI pro license.
