1. Phil’s amazing teaching style and his passion! 2. a sense of community with like minded clinicians 3. high intensity gait training and providing challenging and creative  treatment sessions to all patients. 4. Jiu jitsu! Rhythm games lol and I like learning musical instruments. 5. jiu jitsu, hiking, rock climbing (indoors), weightlifting (deadlifts and pull ups are my favorites!), boxing. Something active. Plus a good few hours watching a good show and eating popcorn while sitting on my favorite couch. 6. Preventative care. I really think a lot of issues (falls, broken hips, etc) could be prevented if 40-50 year old adults understand why certain activities, exercises, and engagement in occupations could be beneficial. (Even better if this importance id instilled from childhood!) A lot of older adults say they don’t have many hobbies and they spend a lot of time living very sedentary lives. I think this is part of why it gets harder and harder to stand up from chairs or to even walk as older adults age. I want to help change the narrative and show people that it is possible to thrive and enjoy life in old age. 7. Many possibilities! One idea, provide folks with high intensity gait training to help people regain function more often. Do balance screenings to help adults in their 50’s identify if they are at risk for falls or injury. Offer private pay services so they learn how to maximize their strength, improve their balance, and feel confident and strong as they age. Maybe create a program that people can purchase that focused on the functional aspect of fitness and balance training. Maybe get MMOA (modern management of the older adult) certified. Maybe I’d help some students out or something from time to time. and I’d be a professional musician in the evenings :) I’d also be interested in doing research. A lot of adults after chronic stroke ask how to get function back in their arm after a stroke. I wish I had a better answer that had a high or at least decent chance of success. I want to find solutions to problems that don’t have a good answer. OT needs a lot more research.

@Savannah Ipsen I love boxing too Savannah! And I think it’s a great and fun intervention for some of the patients too. Excited that you’re here! I think Phil loves pickleball too, maybe one day we could all meet up to talk about HIT and neuro things in person, and then have a little pickleball tournament after! haha. That’d be a fun and interesting conference. Looking forward to learning together!
