How mindfulness saved my life as an entrepreneur👇
🎶 "It's the space between the notes that make the music." Last year I spent a month at beautiful Sivananda Ashram Yoga Ranch in the middle of nowhere in upstate New York. I committed to a month-long Karma Yoga program because I recently sold my coaching business and I was completely burnt out from working so hard for 5 years. Two weeks into my stay, me and a few attendees were watching a Sadguru interview and what he said in that interview changed my perspective on everything. He said "Your intellect is a lot like a knife. You want it to be sharp, right? However, what happens to a knife if you're always using it. It becomes dull, right? That's the problem with society. We're all walking around with dull intellects...no wonder were unhappy." In that moment, I realized why I had burnt out and felt like I had lost control over my life. I had constantly tried to think my way out of problems with a dull intellect which propitiated the feeling of having a fuzzy mind. So over the past year and a half, I have meditated, exercised, and done breathwork just about every single day. When I am not required to think, I don't. I focus on my breath and breath in "Peace" and "Breath" out love. Every time I'm completely present in my breath or body, I know that I'm sharpening my knife, so my intellect can be sharp when it is required. I no longer get worried, stressed, or anxious about the past or the future because when I feel that sensation arising, I know it's from dulling my knife and overusing my intellect. So I just do 5 minutes of breathwork, 10 minutes of meditation, or 100 pushups. And because of this... My self-confidence has grown astronomically. My relationships are stronger than ever. And I'm more lit up by my work than ever before. All the high performers know this... "Meditation helps me to be more mindful, which is essential to making wise decisions. It also helps me to be more creative and to be more effective in achieving my goals." - Ray Dalio
