Weekly Meal Plan
Drop a comment if you’d be interested in me sharing our weekly meal plan at the start of every week? It’s not something we really even do right now. I just keep notes in my phone but I’d happily start writing it down and sharing it in here if there’s interest. Let me know! Note: it likely wouldn’t always include the recipe, because many times I’m trying something new out, or don’t have it written down yet, but that’s something I can always work to add or create later as well if it’s popular.

Beef, pressure canned, or crockpot and potatoes are always staples. Spaghetti, it's easy to put together and tacos. We tend to eat lighter on weeknights like leftovers and make bigger meals Saturday and Sunday.
But What About My Picky Kids 😫
“I only wish my kids would eat the food I make…” “You’re so lucky that your kids eat what you feed them.” “Must be nice that your kids eat so well.” This is just a small sampling of the comments I’ve received over the years when sharing my food and including my kids who’re happy to eat what I’m serving them for dinner in the video. I’m not here to tell you that my way is the right way…or the only way. But it has worked well for my wife and I. First things…the answers to those statements above. You don’t have to “WISH”. I’m not “LUCKY”. And it’s not “NICE”. To go a step further…my kids eat what my wife and I make them for dinner because I didn’t wish…I don’t rely on luck, and I certainly don’t try to be nice to get them to eat like big kids, rather than spoiled turds who can only tolerate chicken nuggets and French fries drowned on ketchup. I don’t know why, but so often people want some big flashy fancy answer to how and why things work. But so often what works isn’t complicated…or fancy…or exciting And because it isn’t any of those things, people choose not to do it. Put another way…people lose all excitement to do something impactful that changes their lives for the better because the path itself isn’t exciting. It’s boring—requiring mostly…a great amount of discipline.” So, no…wishing and luck aren’t tools in toolbox. Instead, and here’s the great big ‘secret’ you’ve been waiting for. We make XYZ for dinner and that’s what our kids will be eating. You know…kinda like how you likely grew up. Your mom wasn’t catering to little ol’ you like you were some prestigious king or queen deserving of an a la carte menu and the finest of china with genuine silverware. No, you sat down and shoveled into your mouth whatever was served. And the only thing I hope and pray for is that you actually have some idea of how to turn ingredients into a good meal that your family not only enjoys, but nourishes their bodies as well. But somehow it’s “rude” and “cruel” to make our kids do the same exact thing. Yes, I’ve actually been called rude and cruel for forcing my kids to eat what I make for dinner…and get this…having them go to bed hungry if they want to throw a fit that they’re not going to eat what I made, especially if they haven’t even tried it yet.

This is the way I was raised and the way I raised my daughter! We both made it out alive!
A Name Change...Already?!
I wanted to be able to get the domain for this group...but Food and Freedom was already taken. Well...I could've gotten it, but it would've cost about $1,000, and I wasn't paying that. I thought about just leaving it and dealing with it, but nah...I wanted that domain. So I took to ChatGPT to brainstorm some ideas as well as just letting my creative brain flow while I sipped my dark roast coffee from my extra large coffee cup. I basically wanted to say Food and Freedom without saying it. I thought about "Beyond the Table" but those domains were like $3,000. "Infoodity and Beyond" was another fun one I came up with, but decided against that as it was a bit too abstract. Then I remembered back to the house I grew up in. We had this 5 foot tall dinner bell that you could rock back and forth atop this tall wooden pedestal and it would clang loud enough to hear all the way down the road to our neighbors house. I always loved that dinner bell. But I didn't just love it. I love what it stood for. It stood for me being a kid playing outside with my friends and brothers. It stood for my mom working in the kitchen to put together a homemade meal with real food, not McDonald's slopped down on a paper plate. It stood for our family gathered around our dinner table, hanging out, talking, no cell phones, no tv...just each other and our love for one another. Those...are The Dinner Bell Days. And that's what I hope to bring to my family, and I want to help you bring to yours.
