Today one of my inspirations is https://www.joshuaweissman.com/ . I just saw his video with the online food hacks and recipes and saw the pickled chips. I am definitely going to make these in the next few days and share it here with the recipe and if i can take a good enough photograph add that too. Do you have a someone who is inspiring you right now? P.S the recipe starts at 19 minutes in

French toast sammiches
I don't know about yall but I have a bunch of food fixations. Atm its french toast cause eggs are cheaper than fish and lamb per meal. Tonight I made French toast sammiches with lamb and cheese. Was good but lamb was a little dry

@Todd Kelly salt in the egg mixture. I often forget to do this and my sense of taste is messed up after so many bouts of covid so i need salt

@Todd Kelly oh for sure. I made the best brownies a month or so ago. They were a salted caramel box mix and the salt balanced the sweet out so they were so good

@Todd Kelly all kinds of things. Fun fact: using the balance of ingredients that all recipes use I formulated a passionfruit sponge cake recipe in 2010/2011 from scratch. I used to make it for every family gathering. Might make it again soon. I found my recipe book this year. Several pages have been torn out. My worked out from scratch brownie recipe is gone. Shame but I could find another pretty easy. Gluten free cooking when I became allergic was alot harder as there were less recipes for gf cakes
Food allergies
Do any of you guys have food allergies? My first food allergy started when i was 19. I went to see a specialist cause i kept gaining weight and i was on a pretty strict diet. Turns out i had a wheat allergy. My allergies/intolerances to date are Wheat/gluten, garlic, lactose, nuts, chicken, turkey, salmon, beef and pork. I joke with hubs that if i become intolerant to all meat sources i may as well stop eating but this is a real concern for me. I try to do meat free meals so im not eating meats too often so as to not develop an allergy to something else. What happens to you if you are allergic? I have a few different reactions. Gluten/wheat: depending on the amount im exposed to can be a hospital visit or intestinal upset. Garlic: i get really bad heartburn. Lactose: if its fresh milk/cream i have an asthma attack. If its stuff like ice cream/cheese i get gassy. Nuts: oh boy this one is bad. Fun fact if you make your own cashew ice cream and eat it nearly everyday for a year, you might develop an allergy... who knew xD. Now all i need to do is walk into a room with someone eating nuts to start a reaction. It starts as a rash and proceeds to a open sore till my body recovers. Im afraid that one day i will ingest a nut and im not sure what reaction i will have. Meat sources: It was just a few weeks after my gastric bypass when i had some roast chicken and was violently ill from it. My other meat sources let me know i couldnt eat them when they sat for a few hours and then were expelled. Small doses my body can tolerate but none of my meat intolerances can be eaten as a meal It would be interesting to hear from others with allergies/intolerances and how they navigate the waters
