Rogue (slightly disturbing) data analysis
Hello, I had a weird experience trying to get GPT (free version) to help analyse survey results. I submitted (through google drive link) 250 entries responding to the question "what are 3 main challenges you are facing in your career". First, I attempted a word count. Looked promising but then upon cleaning up the list to eliminate duplicates, the counts would become totally random. I left that aside and the real pbs started afterwards. Then, I asked to group the responses in categories. First looking promising, then spotting a category (Diversity Equity and Inclusion) that didn't seem congruent with the data I had seen in the survey results. I asked to justify that category by showing what in the data reflected such challenges, also asking to quote data and number the lines where such data appeared. Long story short, it came back with totally made up quotes, multiple times, after checking it was from my data, reiterating to extract from my data etc... I understand the technology still has limits and might get confused between prompts. I'm acknowledging I'm not a specialist in prompting adequately, nevertheless, I can't help but having a weird feeling of having ran into a pre-programming of assumptions. Some statements it "claims" were quoted from my data include for example: - "I often feel isolated and excluded in the workplace due to my race and ethnicity." - "There is a lack of awareness and understanding of cultural differences, which creates a hostile work environment." - "I have witnessed discrimination and bias towards certain groups of people within the organization." There is no answer even remotely close to those in my survey results. What is disturbing is that it reiterates the fact that " responses are generated solely based on the input I receive. I don't have the ability to make up anything on my own, and my responses are based solely on the information and data that you provide to me. I understand the importance of accuracy in data analysis and I always strive to provide the most reliable and relevant insights possible based on the information provided to me."

@Chris Chenault this is super helpful. There was too much data to send within the chat so I asked GPT how to operate in that case, it got me to send a csv file link through google drive or dropbox. I followed its own instructions as to how providing the data.

@Zac Smith hi, that's a great idea. That'd be interesting to compare. Where shall I send you the info?
AUTO-GPT / VERY CLOSE TO AGI - INCREDIBLE
https://github.com/Torantulino/Auto-GPT This guy goes through it all and explains very well: https://youtu.be/7MeHry2pglw I can't honestly begin to explain what this unleashes in to the wild, it to me is the first sparks of AGI, and the scary and exiting future of the incredible movement. There is a video on the github page demonstrating it being used in a mode that requires no input from a human. I have been using it a mode that requires my input and approval before taking steps.. What does that mean? Well.. It is it's own entity.. You nudge it with an idea, it then goes out on the internet and gets information, updates, stores info in its memory, creates additional gpt chat bots to go in different directions to research, and in cycles, fulfilling goals, never requiring input, in the mode they demonstrate. And also, you can get an API key from elevenlabs.io and give it a voice. I didn't leave my house the last 2 nights, I had this thing producing amazing things. I just don't even know how to describe it. It also is like the fastest growing github page in a short time or some deal. Better check it out while you can, because it just seems to powerful.. I say all this with sincere honesty and shock. Good luck.. Oh, if you don't code.. Or understand github.. It is literally like 3 command line prompts to install. It checks every single box and keeps giving..

Sounds like Skynet to me... 😱
Read a Document
How can I give a document to for Chat gpt to read? So i can refer to it. I would like to give access to the Building Codes of Australia, (latest edition), so I can establish procedures for a building company to have references on building to the minimum standards. Each section is approx 800 pages with many diagrams.

Hi @George Hadjistavrou I would be really careful getting Chat GPT to base anything on data that you provide. I had a very disturbing experience with it attempting to get it to help analysing survey results. It was literally making up data as if it were from my survey results when they were. not. I don't know if GPT-4 would be more reliable but that was not just inaccurate but full blown misleading with invented references to inexistent data. I posted about it on linkedin, feel free to look at it, there are screenshots: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/activity-7049067874790858752-IF99?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop
