My extremely over the top setup
I realized today that my setup has gotten to be very over the top but I had fun and learned a lot about Ableton when making it so I figured I'd share. The way it works is that I start on the right and move to the left physically as a project progresses like this: 1. Experiment with ideas using the Maschine/superior drummer to fingerdrum rhythms, the mic for vocals and the push for chords/bass/harmony stuff. The launchpad is for clip triggering in session view and I have been using the 2 window option on ableton to keep session view on the big monitor along with plugin windows and Chordie(shows sheet music and chord names) 2. After I have a solid set of clips, if necessary I do sound design on the microfreak 3. I then use the Ipad/pencil to draw in transitions/other automation in arrangement view. I use the World-E for the crossfader and transport controls as well as some random buttons that i drew labels on with stickers 4. I then do my mixing/mastering with the launch control for the standard track faders/knobs and I use the World-E's 1st/2nd banks of faders/knobs for drums and the master track. If I need to mess with devices such as EQ/compressor I use the 4th bank knobs on the World-E or sometimes just the push(This is an exception to the whole right to left thing)

[NEED YOUR FEEDBACK] Music Production Mastery Course Outline
Heyo! I finally got this course outline done and getting ready to start filming it. BUT... Before I start I'd love your feedback on it. I want to make sure I'm not missing the mark of forgetting anything crucial. Check the linked video below for the full overview. Keep in mind I want to create a resource so that anyone (including beginners) can master the foundations of everything that's required to finish awesome music. Here's what I'd like to know: 1. What do you think? (x/10) 2. What do you want to see first? 3. What (if anything) is missing and would like to see? Thanks in advance! Looking forward to creating this. https://share.descript.com/view/jbMN06eoJMk

The things that come to mind are ear training and how to create variations on a musical idea you get from someone else's song. Also, I feel that doing more examples that aren't in odd time meters would be helpful. Examples that more people could relate to and don't create confusion if they do not understand odd time meters.

Where are you from? I'm currently in San Mateo, CA. I grew up in Modesto, CA where George Lucas is from, my Dad went to High School with him. When I was a guitarist in the Army Band I lived near Savanah, GA and in El Paso, TX. I also lived in Alaska for a while. What are you working on? I'm a third grade teacher about to go on Summer Break where I will focus on the Music Creator's Academy. I'm eclectic in my musical interests. I like Evanescense, Rage Against the Machine, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Charlie Clouser's stuff (White Zombie and NIN). Blended film score like Trevor Rabin and Harry Gregson-Williams. Future Bass. I enjoy hip hop and rap as well. On bass guitar I work on transcribing and learning musicals. I teach at a k-8 grade and want to get a production club going and also do remixes for the dance team. My laptop is pretty weak right now as I've spent the last couple of years finishing a MA in Elementary Education. I have Ableton Live 10 Suite, Reason 12, focusrite scarlett solo, Sony Headphones, Launchpad Pro MK3, Arturia Minilab 3 and other controllers. What immediate help do you need? Going through Music Creator's Academy will be a good start for me. I'm looking forward to focusing more on music and eventually joining mentoring. This is not something I need immediate help with but I would be interested in seeing you build a song using Push 3 standalone and just talk about what you are doing as you use it.

After playing guitar in the Army Band I’m now a teacher. I’m wanting to get better at production for my enjoyment and to inspire the next generation!
