Great questions HP! I will happily tackle these on the 30th 💪🏽👍🏽
What you say as a parent matters
It would be great if my son could win a couple of games this weekend While winning is important, it shouldn't come at the expense of their mental state. Encouraging your child to focus on the present moment, specifically the next ball. Remind them that they have control over their actions and decisions in the current moment. The last point is already gone, and the future points are mere dreams. However, the next ball is the reality they need to concentrate on. By emphasizing the importance of giving their all to each ball, you're instilling a mindset of commitment and excellence. Encourage them to play the Next ball to the best of their abilities, channeling every ounce of their being into it. This approach will help them stay focused, improve their performance, and ultimately increase their chances of success. Remember, winning matters, but nurturing a strong mindset and focusing on the present moment are equally if not more vital for long-term growth and success. One of the greatest players of all time said in his book, " If I made a mistake on the previous point, forget it: should thought of victory suggest itself, crush it. That's where the mental strength comes in, what separates champions from near champions. You put that failure immediately behind you and clean out your mind. You do not let your mind dwell on it" This approach highlights Nadal's commitment to concentrating fully on each point, regardless of the outcomes. Let's discuss :)

The operant conditioning just created a stimulus that encouraged them to focus more and be more intentional. The quality then followed

@Fred Morand Yes because that is how the game is played on a Macro level. However, there needs to be key processes associated with each skill execution. Therefore when I am on the run and hitting a FH I will focus my attention on - Watching and seeing the ball through contact - Still trying to arrive ahead of the ball (movement intensity) - Swinging Low To high ensuring net clearance - Decelerating off inside leg and Stopping with outside leg just to name a few.

We teach this to our players as part of their technical development. Would love to hear your comments

Couple of things here: 1. Great example of load, weight transition and transfer 2. Pay close attention to how far away from his shoulders he plants his left foot (at the 45 deg. angle) 3. look at weight distribution btw. left and right leg. Is one leg "loaded" more than the other? If so, Why If not, Why not? 4. Last but certainly not least is the violent explosive movement in the hips. What are they doing to create rotational acceleration and angular momentum without losing control and disrupting balance. All great examples and worthy of deep inspection.
