Question: But aren't we the niche?
Andrew Kirby told us to solve a specific problem, make specific content, make a product that solves that specific problem. But doesn't that go against the advice of "Escape competition through authenticity?" or "You're are the niche?" Long ago I remember everyone preaching that. And now everyone preaches niching down? Apologies if I'm not seeing things clearly but isn't this contradictory?

I had the same question. The answer I got was: If you are just starting out, target a specific niche will help you grow and build your brand. After you get some audience and build your authority, then you can start to talk about other things. Ali Abdaal is a great example, he grew his audience through a specific niche, productivity. And after he built his personal brand and audience, now he posts a lot of different contents and people still watch it. Same as a lot educational creators. They all started narrow with a niche, gave tons of value and built their authority. And after that they broadened their content. To sum up, pick a niche to grow from 0, you can be the niche after you build your brand.
How To Pick Your Niche In 10 Mins
If you're trying to figure out your niche, or what your group should be about, read this post. You can get your answer in about 10min if you just follow the 5 steps. Ex: I help people new to skool figure out what to make their community about in under 10minutes. (and avoid months of wasted time and stress) A big part of the pressure comes from this idea that you have to β€˜get it right the first time.’ It’s the fallacy of the β€˜perfect pick.’ In reality, it’s never like this. Your original idea is guaranteed to suck and be wrong and not the thing you do a year or two from now - when you've refined it 6 more times. So get your wrong idea out as fast as you can. And simply make it less wrong over time. Until eventually it’s so little wrong that it’s actually right. So let’s just rip the bandaid off and get your first version out there. STEP 1: PICK WHAT YOU WANT THE COMMUNITY TO BE ABOUT Communities typically form around of the 3 Ps: Profession: Some skill you learned from a job or gig. Think β€œaccounting” Pain: Some problem you’ve overcome personally or helped someone else overcome. Think β€œovercoming food allergy” Passion: Something that interests you whether you like doing it or like learning about it. Think β€œbuilding model cars” 𝐴𝐢𝑇𝐼𝑂𝑁 𝑆𝑇𝐸𝑃 = π‘€π‘Žπ‘˜π‘’ π‘Ž 𝑙𝑖𝑠𝑑 π‘œπ‘“ π‘π‘Ÿπ‘œπ‘“π‘’π‘ π‘ π‘–π‘œπ‘›π‘ , π‘π‘Žπ‘–π‘›π‘ , π‘Žπ‘›π‘‘ π‘π‘Žπ‘ π‘ π‘–π‘œπ‘›π‘  π‘¦π‘œπ‘’ π‘π‘œπ‘’π‘™π‘‘ π‘π‘–π‘π‘˜. STEP 2: PICK WHO DO YOU WANT THE COMMUNITY TO BE FOR WHO will either be: - People like you - People like you’ve helped before - People you think are underserved Or a combination of all three. 𝐴𝐢𝑇𝐼𝑂𝑁 𝑆𝑇𝐸𝑃 = π‘€π‘Žπ‘˜π‘’ π‘Ž 𝑙𝑖𝑠𝑑 π‘œπ‘“ π‘Žπ‘™π‘™ π‘‘β„Žπ‘’ 'π‘€β„Žπ‘œπ‘ ' π‘¦π‘œπ‘’π‘Ÿ π‘”π‘Ÿπ‘œπ‘’π‘ π‘π‘œπ‘’π‘™π‘‘ 𝑏𝑒 π‘“π‘œπ‘Ÿ STEP 3: DESCRIBE THEM AS THEY SEE THEMSELVES β†’ In a way they can say β€œthis is for me.” For example, if I wanted to help people like me, I’d say: 30 to 45 year old businessmen (NOTE = Hormozi wrote this) So you want to think through the following variables: pick 3 (ish) - Age - Gender - Profession - Problem - Interest STEP 4: GOOD STUFF YOU HELP THEM GET + BAD STUFF YOU HELP THEM AVOID. BY JOINING YOUR COMMUNITY.

How to collect Emails?
Hi fellow synthesizers! I am just starting out and decided to collect emails by giving away free challenges. So my question is, what tools I can use and is there any good tutorials on this topic? Thanks!

πŸ•ŠοΈ DON'T SELL A COURSE / PAID COMMUNITY (Until You Do This)
Paid communities are the rage. But just because your favourite YouTuber is making bank with a paid community or course, doesn't mean it's the fastest path for you to get to $10k/month. As a synthesizer, there's only 4 ways for you to monetize: Let's break them down, then help you figure out which is best for you. This is a crucial decision if you want to make a full-time income online doing what you love. // 𝐓𝐇𝐄 π…πŽπ”π‘ πŒπŽππ„π“πˆπ™π€π“πˆπŽπ 𝐏𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐒 1. DO IT YOURSELF (Courses) What is it: The buyer receives information. They have to consume it, and execute on it themselves. Pros: It's infinitely scalable. 1,000,000 people can go through a course at the same time. Cons: It's very hard to sell. The buyer knows it's going to be a lot of work to consume the information then implement it. // 2. DONE WITH YOU AND OTHERS (Paid Communities, Group Coaching, Cohort Based Courses) What is it: The buyer does the work with you helping in a group setting. Pros: It's pretty scalable. You can help hundreds of people at the same time. Cons: It's hard to sell. The buyer does all the work, and doesn't get much direct help from you. // 3. DONE WITH YOU (1 on 1 Coaching) What is it: You help the buyer privately to achieve the outcome. Pros: It's easy to sell. People value 1 to 1 connection, and direct help is very valuable. Cons: It's not infinitely scalable. It's hard to scale beyond $30,000/month. // 4. DONE FOR YOU (Services) What is it: You do work for the buyer. Pros: It's super easy to sell. The buyer hardly has to do any work, but still gets the outcome. Cons: It's not infinitely scalable. It's hard to scale beyond $30,000/month. // 𝐌𝐘 π’π“πŽπ‘π˜ When I started trying to monetize, I thought the best thing to do was build an audience. I spent a year doing this, and made $0. This post explains why you should not make content until you figure out monetization. Please do not make the mistake I made.

Thank you for this brilliant post Andrew! I have been posting on YouTube for 4 months now and gained 300 subs. My main niche is teaching people about Mandarin ( my advantage would be that I am a native speaker). But I keep wondering if the market is too saturated. I’ll be working on how to start 1 on 1 coaching. Thanks again for the breakdown!
