OneLake vs ADLS Gen 2
Hi all, I want to get started with Fabric and currently all my data is still on premises. Would you recommend to create a landing zone directly in a Fabric Lakehouse, or first import it into ADLS Gen 2 and then create a shortcut? What are would be the pros/cons for one or the other. Thanks!

I think the question is not only technical, but also about architecture. The idea of lakehouse is to connect lake and house together and with this avoid storage, user management, etc. in two different places. On the other hand, if the on-premise is a sql-server and you can integrate, for example, with polybase, your data better to adsl gen2, then there is a reason to be flexible about the architecture.
Naming standards in MS Fabric
Anyone got any good document or blog reference for naming standards in MS Fabric? For example, dev, uat and production at workspace level, down to fabric items as a minimum

What are your biggest pain points currently with Fabric?
Hey everyone, happy Monday! I'm currently planning out future content for the YouTube channel, and want to always produce the content that is most relevant/helpful to you! So, some questions: - What are your biggest pain points currently with Fabric? - Anything you're struggling to understand? - Things you think are important, but don't quite grasp yet? It's this kind of engagement that led to the Power BI -> Fabric series, and then the DP-600 series, so I thought I'd open it up to you again! Look forward to hearing from you - thank you! Here's some potential things: - Delta file format - integrating AI/ ML/ Azure AI / Open AI - copilot - Git integration / deployment pipelines / CI/CD - data modelling / implementing SCDs - medallion implementation - more advanced pyspark stuff - data pipelines - metadata driven workflows - dataflows (and optimising dataflows) - lakehouse achitectures - real-time - data science projects - semantic link - migrating semantic models - using python to manage semantic models - administration/ automation - fabric api - other...?

What is the real situation with near-real-time data? Is KQL genuinely better than the Azure alternative? Whole topic is (mysteriously) not even in the DP-600 exam...
The most impressive thing at MS Build
For me, the most impressive/exciting feature that has been announced/ previewed over the last week is AI Skills, watch here: https://youtu.be/vlNxydCYx-4?si=ngRt2c7S6fVZZLH1&t=2700 I don't think it's been released yet, they just teased it at the end of the What's Next presentation. Take a look at the video... but to summarise: - AI Skill will be a new fabric item that allows the user to ask natural language questions about data in your Lakehouse. The AI Skill then write a SQL query and performs the query, and returns the results. - These AI Skills can then be embedded into Copilot and you can build your own chatbots with these Skills, and even embed it into a Teams chat. - Imagine being in a Teams meeting and asking your Skill (which is in the meeting) - "Hey what was the Sales figures for the last 12 months...?". - "Hey which tasks got completed in our project management system yesterday and which are delayed?"... etc etc etc. Could be very disruptive! But obviously depends on how good the results are though 😉 What do you think?
